Generally say how far you are first and then your ideas that ways its easy.

Carrie (brightbeautifulthings) (brightbeautifulthings) I probably won't re-read because my TBR is out of control this month (I started four different series in October, what was I thinking?), but I'll follow along with the discussion. I hope you all love it! :]]

I have gotten to page 40 so not far, but loving it more and more. I like how the world is set up, not info dumping and still not too little its done in a good way.

I have read 200 pages so far and it's so good! When will we post a discussion?

This is the discusson thread. So if you want to talk about character x or y just do it. As long as you say SPOILERS first if it is that is.

⋆✩ Mary ✩⋆ (marya28) | 104 comments We should play that game that Kate plays, when she asks herself: "Where are you, Kate?"

I'm curious about your answers XD

Carrie (brightbeautifulthings) (brightbeautifulthings) Haha, yes! I was just reading this book called The Switch where the characters can pull these switches that put them into different lives (multiple worlds theory-style), and I was thinking that Kate Harker would totally read it. She does that all the time!

Interesting book! Are you enjoying it so far?

message 28: by c (new) - rated it 4 stars

c (sheisreadingg) Is it too bad that I have almost reached the end of this book? I tried to read more slowly, but I think that I have found a new favourite book (the last one was The Scorpio Races read in June, a lot of time ago). The writing is amazing and the characters are wonderfully developed, my favourite is August. Also, the fantasy/dystopian world is interesting and original!

Only because now it's over ;-; I'm so glad you liked it! I love the world-building too. Her monsters are so cool and creepy, better than a lot of straightforward horror novels. Ilsa is totally my favorite though. :]]

I did as some of you and finished the book.
I have to say, honestly? It wasent for me. Too scary and violent.

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it as much as I did :(
To me, it didn't seem so scary: I could say it's dark, especially when it comes to August and his thoughts, but also Kate. What did you think of the writing? I mean, this was the first book of Victoria Schwab we have read. I personally think it's amazing and I'll definitely read more her books.

I liked the writing but because of the scaryness of the plot I wount at least continue this series.. Might try that magician series of hers.
Still glad I tried the book. Cant say I dont read out of my comfort zone now and then.

Yeah, trying new genres and books is always cool and makes you know you aren't for that thing in this case, but at least you've tried.

Dont stress too much. I mean the group is for fun if you cant read it before the 9th read it during xmas. It shouldent be a tedious task you NEED to do, the group is supposed to be fun after all.

Nicole (book_lover2000) | 140 comments So, I finished it! I read in one sitting, I just could not put it down! It was so entertaining and I love it! Can't wait for the second one.
I read the translated version, so I'm curious to see if that will affect how I understand the book in comparison to you guys.
Just to check something, what were the monsters' names in English? In the Brazilian version they were: sunai, malchais and corsais. I imagine they would be slightly different in English.

no actually the monsters names were the same. I dont think translators translate name or not all the time at least.

seems like most in the group loved the book. I`m in the minority there, well I dident hate it so there is that.

message 47: by [deleted user] (new)

FYI, everyone the poll up for the next book is up. The author is Terry Prachett the poll is up till sunday.

Nicole (book_lover2000) | 140 comments Actually, they do translate it sometime which can be extremely annoying, that's why I always prefer to read it in the original language. It really pisses me off to be reading and find a translation mistake. I don't know why, but in Brazil, ya is not translated so well. But I already had the book home, so I didn't buy another one.
Oh my god! Why didn't you like it? The book definitely wasn't life-changing, but it was so entertaining, the characters and the world were complex and the writing was beautiful. I'm curious to hear your input on it.

huh,, well I read mostly in english but when I do read in norwegian I find the nmes are often the same. Maybe its a brazilian thing.

Well I talked about my feelings for it earlier but I might as well say it again. I liked the world, but it was too scary for my taste so that overshadowed other enjoyable things for me.

Nicole (book_lover2000) | 140 comments @Oda oh I understand! Hopefully, you will enjoy more the next book we choose.
