Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9502 comments This is a thread for discussion about the idea and the books being nominated. Once it gets picked and starts to circulate someone can start another topic in this folder.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9502 comments Shall we have ground rules? I'll suggest some here, and keep updating/changing as folks weigh in. Or, if people feel they aren't necessary we can bag them.

--------
1. DJ will start the book off after she has read it, and send it to one of the people on the list.

2. Each person should add whatever comment, remarks, doodling, whatever, inside the book as they are reading.

3. Each reader will send the book on after two weeks (is that enough time?)

4. Each reader will post something in the topic set up for reporting (we should decide if the topic is for comemnts on plot, and how we will handle spoilers).

5. Other ground rules?

Donnajo | 4354 comments I'm going to put some type of pocket in the back of the book maybe (hopefully) that small size clip envelope will fit otherwise I'm figure something out that we can keep a page with people's names, addresses, email etc. and maybe if you want to put a rating when you finish and if you want to add a paper with comments. if other's join as we go along whoever has the book just add the person's name to the end of the list. everyone is in charge of getting the person who is next's address. whenever it's finished just send it back to me.
It looks like That night by chevy stevens might be ahead so far. but as I mentioned I would be happy if this one goes along without a problem of doing any of the other books too.

BarryP (barrypz) | 3500 comments A shared document in Google Docs would also be a place to hold addresses and status. A simple spreadsheet could tell you who read the book so you know where to send it next. Or we could track who read the book by writing our name on one of the flyleafs.
If you wanted to go that way, I could set up the share if you wish.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16958 comments That sounds like a very good plan Barry! Nice of you to do it, how should we get you our addresses, personal message you here on GR?

Ann (annrumsey) | 16958 comments I like the idea of some rules like these, Carol - two weeks is probably best and then people can be a bit flexible up to three weeks. Thanks for setting them out here. If we make it longer it might be easy to set the book aside.

Donnajo | 4354 comments I'm not sure about those doc files in the past for some reason my mac won't open them. with That night the inside covers are empty or I'll have a pocket on the inside back cover. I just tried the one envelope that I was thinking of using and it's a tiny bit big along the outside at least for that night. we can try the doc not promising that it will work for me because of when I tried in the past. but I figured I would send it on to ann after me since I have her address already. maybe if it's google it will work since I usually get on that site without problem. We can also do both ways as a backup if the paper gets lost but if I use.
Everything is a trial since it's a first time we ever tried something like this.

Donnajo | 4354 comments It looks like votes are in for the group so far and That Night is first followed if we want by Legend then The good girl (or the other way away we will deal with that once the one gets on the road)
I took a change and started a few pages of That night and so far so good. I'm thinking I don't know if we should stick our initials after our comments so we know who wrote what or use different colored pens or pencils so far what I wrote is in pencil only because I don't want to worry if I change my mind or make a mistake. but whatever everyone wants to use when it gets to them is fine. i haven't highlighted anything yet. I did underline a few names.

BarryP (barrypz) | 3500 comments PM me with an email address and I will set up a shared document. It will be shared so that we can all read and write to it, therefore fill out our own information.

message 11: by BarryP (new)

BarryP (barrypz) | 3500 comments I have shared with Carol and Ann and Sherry. If you need me to change the email I have associated with you, or want to be added to the share, all I need is the email address. Once I have shared, you can edit the document yourself, which means we can keep track of who has read the book, and who has the book, in the same document

LizH (liz_h) | 955 comments Just a thought...I did this with my FTF book club a few years ago with the book Saving CeeCee Honeycutt. I have everyone write their comments on sticky notes so as not to mar my signed copy. All the notes are still with the book, and I continue to pass it to friends.

message 15: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo | 4354 comments I've already written in the book but anything goes as long as it's clean. Lol. I'm on page 70 now finished another arc that has to be reviewed in the next few days need to get some another one in then hopefully a few chapters in later in this book. Hopefully will get a good amount read this weekend at the shore going down early tomorrow.

Donnajo | 4354 comments I'm up to page 117 in the book. didn't get any reading done since I've been hope. just trying to do some catching up but I'm hoping to read some reading in the book done today besides finishing another book which has to get reviews done.
It is a good book far I hope everyone enjoys it when it gets to them. I just remembered I forgot to take the beach picture of it when I was at the shore. I had a whole idea of taking it to the beach with my camera when it wasn't busy and taking a picture of it with the ocean behind it and sticking it on the inside cover. but I won't be back to the shore for 2 weeks so it won't happen. will have to think of something else to do.

The beach picture was a cute idea. :)

message 24: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo | 4354 comments maybe if we do another book I'll do it with that one. it's strange while I was reading the book on the beach last weekend I thought of the idea and that I had to go back with camera and book and forgot. but next time.
I'm now up to page 190 which is more than 1/2 way though the book so about 130 pages left to read to finish and I bought a pack of bubble envelopes that I hope I can use one of those to send it out the beginning of next week if all works out with getting though the rest of it.

message 25: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo | 4354 comments I have a tiny bit over 100 pages left to read and hope to get them done today. I'm really enjoying the book. writing some comments in it. I hope everyone who is doing it will also enjoy it and come up with some good comments or whatever.

message 26: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo | 4354 comments Just finished the book. I'm not going to say anything about it don't want to ruin it for anyone. but give me another day or so to do whatever I need to with the book then I'll let you know when it's on the move.

Donnajo | 4354 comments I got one of my newsletters emails today and guess what book had a link to the author's website and trailer it looks good. I know the traveling book didn't get far but I figured this book came in close too so even thoughit's supposed to be coming out today (I have the arc) the arc said august guess they are early I still want to read the book. but I want to finish another arc and the heather webber book maybe I'll start this book next. Even if I get though it first and we want to hold off for awhile I can hold it back if anyone want to do this book too.

message 31: by Ann (new)

Ann (annrumsey) | 16958 comments I got the traveling book, That Night: A Novel today! I am excited to have my turn and hope to start it by the weekend. I am in the middle of a print library book, Eva's Eye,that is due on Saturday that I don't think I can renew.
DJ - are you referring to The Good Girl? It looks good too!
