You could borrow from a person, a library or even one of those little lending libraries! If you are lucky enough to have people in your life that gift you with books (and with the holidays right around the corner) maybe you'll get a nice surprise gift to use for this one!

My sister frequently loans me audiobooks so I have something to listen to while I exercise. If I don't get a book for Christmas this year, I may go with that option.

I am part of another Goodreads group that does a "Secret Santa" book and e-book exchange. I will pencil in whatever book I am gifted this year.

I'll go for a book that I got as a gift, otherwise it would essentially be a free choice category for me since I borrow the majority of my books from the library. Lucky for me, my birthday was 2 weeks ago and I got some books as gifts!

I'll leave this open as I'm sure to have someone lend me a book over the next year.

I just got Big Little Lies for Christmas!

95% of my books come from the library so that would be cheating, but I got Stalking The Unicorn in a White elephant exchange for Christmas. I'm so excited about it.

I read Claude’s Christmas Adventure which I was given as a Christmas present in 2016.

Ooh I just realized; I was going to use one of the many library books I read for this but I got fantastic beasts last year for Christmas and didn’t read it yet!!

I just finished Lover Awakened which a coworker loaned me. Was a good first read of the year

I got Flight 232: A Story of Disaster and Survival and Through a Night of Horrors: Voices from the 1900 Galveston Storm for Christmas this year.

I got Winter Solstice by Elin Hildebrand from the library for this challenge

I decided on Griffin & Sabine: an extraordinary correspondence because my friend gave me this a few years ago and I never got around to reading it. I will admit I also chose it because it is a quick read! Trying to get some momentum going.

I'll be using Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil for this prompt, too. That's three prompts that I've checked off with this book so far.

I enjoyed this one a lot but found it hard to get into until I listen to it on audio two stories running along side each other but sometimes it hopes back and fort so fast you need a meet to remember lol

The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood

I finished my book for this prompt! I didn't want to use a borrowed book as I really only borrow from the library, and as I want to do this challenge without buying any new books I'll be borrowing from the library a lot! So I was really pleased when my mum got me Big Little Lies for Christmas.

I loved this! I just wanted to read it all in one sitting. It's funny, because at first I was a bit worried it was chick-lit. But there is a deeper core to this book, tackling issues that I wasn't expecting. And I think it did so in a respectful way, if not necessarily always a realistic one. I loved how the story built up whilst all the time teasing you with the climax. I thought the characters were all likeable or detestable as appropriate, and I really enjoyed the humour. Probably being the parent of a five year old helped me really tune in to the kindergarten drama the book revolves around!

I'm excited to finally see the tv adaptation now.

I read I Could Pee on This: And Other Poems by Cats by Francesco Marciuliano. I borrowed it from the Amazon Prime lending library. This was a cute little book of poems written from the cat's perspective!

My friend from the UK sent me this for Christmas. Great perspective on politics in the US from a UK point of view. If Only They Didn't Speak English: Notes From Trump's America

I'm going for my Specialist certification at work and the course for it has recommended reading which isn't available on Amazon (per my coworker), so I joined our city's library in hopes they or their inter-library loan program can get the books. Since I'm not ready to start studying yet, I'm borrowing some books from them that I've wanted to read.
The first library book I read that didn't fit any other category, and thus counts toward this one was Britt-Marie Was Here

I got a gift certificate for my local used bookstore in my stocking so I'm totally counting whatever I choose there as a book I got as a gift! :)

I finished reading The Fifth Season by NK Jemisin on Jan 20.

I got Electric Arches for Christmas and read it today - it is a beautiful book, worth reading and reading again. Thanks to my sister-in-law for the gift!

Zits was given to me (mother of teen boys) a while back. Good for a wry smile or two.

A friend of mine was given the book The Girl With All the Gifts, but she asked me to read it first as she is not a zombie lover and wanted me to let her know if she'd like it. As a zombie lover, I have to say I loved this book, but it does get into the science of the zombies a little more than I think a non-zombie or non-science reader would like.

I just borrowed the brand new The Death of Mrs Westaway by Ruth Ware from the library so I’m using that one. I can’t wait to start it.

I just finished this one and it is my favorite of her books - loved them all, but this was different and really good! Read in 2 days! Enjoy!

I am reading Complete Stories of Hercule Poirot by Agatha Christie, which I received as a Christmas gift. I read a few stories in between other books, so am working my way through it slowly.

I have decided to read Go Tell It on the Mountain by James Baldwin. I have been a Balwin fan since I read Giovanni's Room and watched several documentaries about him. I've been aching to read more since then and now I've finally borrowed it to read for this prompt.
