Trina Gloury (mactrin) | 76 comments My favourite colour is yellow, for it is bright, bold and makes me feel joyful. My selection for this prompt is The Yellow Wall-Paper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Having read the synopsis though, it doesn't sound like this novel will be bright or joyful haha nevertheless I look forward to reading this short novel

LOL NO that is not a bright and joyful book!! I read it in college, and I LOVED it, so I do recommend it. And yes it's short.

That's not a color, it's a pattern! pick a color in your favorite leopard print and search for that?

Raven Black

I'm in the "it's a pattern, not a color" camp. But if you're determined to go with it, there's always The Unchangeable Spots of Leopards...

message 59: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer T. (jent998) | 231 comments Hmmm...the color purple. or the Lavender Garden by Lucinda Riley sounds good. If all else fails there's my favorite book from childhood: Harold and the Purple Crayon.

Someone may have already suggested this, but there is also Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde. He's one of my favourite authors, he's a bit of a cross between Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams

Michelle | 24 comments So what if you have a hard time picking a favorite color!?! Wondering if this books would count? Its about all kinds of colors..Color: A Natural History of the Palette

Both can also be used for children's classics you haven't read.

Haha - yeah, rather disturbing and sad (especially when you learn more about Charlotte Perkins Gilman's life).

I really like the reading Heather Klinke did for the HP Lovecraft Literary Podcast: The Yellow Wallpaper

Michelle Morning | 6 comments I'm really excited to read Green on Blue which just so happens to have my top two favorite colors in the title! I'm hoping to convince my husband to read it too. He seems interested, which is amazing since he generally doesn't like fiction. But the subject hits close to home for him so I think I can win him over :)

message 91: by Luke (new)

Luke (korrick) I'm stuck between blue (Blue Asylum) and purple (Purple Hibiscus). At least I have options on hand for both.

message 92: by Trina (new)

Trina Dubya (trina_dubya) For lovers of urban fantasy and the color red, the ninth book in Seanan McGuire's October Daye series is A Red-Rose Chain. Granted, this is not a series you can start in the middle of, but I was able to use the first five books in this year's challenge.

I didn't realize that quote was from Pinkalicious! We used a variation of that all the time when I worked with the Girl Scouts!!

Oh it's possible the Pinkalicious author did not invent the term, but that's where I learned it!

Blue Asylum was ok. Nothing spectacular but I wouldn't say it was bad either.

Raquel (Silver Valkyrie Reads) | 896 comments Noticed another one on my shelf for the color black:

Black Horses for the King

It's been a long time since I read it, but if you like mythology/historical fiction I remember it being a fairly interesting story focusing on King Arthur's blacksmith.
