Looking forward to finishing this trilogy.

I'm starting early since I know it's going to take me quite some time... it's been 5 years already since I read the first two so I don't remember much, especially the ending of the second book, that really should have impressed me more ^^

Im starting this!

I just finished chapter 6 and (view spoiler)[I really don't understand Fitz... he could learn more about himself and his powers and thus be more efficient and able to go and kill Regal, but no, he prefers to go alone and without more info. like everything went so well the last time, so why not try the exact same thing ? (hide spoiler)]

Im in the midst of Ch2 and I am so glad someone has finally put Fitz in his place!

(view spoiler)[ Yea. I hink Fitz is kinda dumb sometimes. It makes more sense to get as powerful as possible before attempting Regals life. I would say he is vengeful, but I dont get that intensity of feeling that comes with wanting vengeance on your enemy. 🤷🏼‍♀️ (hide spoiler)]

Especially since (view spoiler)[I don't know how this power is called in English, in French that's the "Vif", the one that links Fitz to animals, that's thanks to that power and Night Eyes that he can survive what two of the baddies did to king Shrewd... so why don't go and learn more about that ?? ^^"
And I don't feel like he is driven that much as well, but perhaps it's for the better ? I'm not a big fan of those vengeance rempage. (hide spoiler)]

I am on page 65, about halfway through chapter 3. I like the start of this one. It's pretty dark and brooding. I want to find out where it goes!

Thoughts after Ch 12: Suspicions

(view spoiler)[ I find that having Tassin be the “indignant, vengeful woman” who turns Fitz in is rubbing me wrong. That is just a character that I do not like, nor do I connect with. She is turned sway from a romp with Fitz, so she goes and does that? I suppose the money was alluring to her, but she must hve known that her master would take the money. What a dumb character.

Chapter 9 : (view spoiler)[aaannnd of course that went pear-shaped -.- but now Fitz finally has a non stupid goal and is going to find Verity ! (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ Even though Fitz doesnt think his poisons worked on Regal, I do think that Regal’s seclusion suggests that maybe he did come into contact with the poison. I think he is sick in some way.

Eh. It’s not much.
Read only if you’ve read through Ch16.(view spoiler)[ There is def something up with Nik and his crew. They are getting too secretive and nervous avout Fitz’ “dog”. Maybe they will sell them to Mountain Folk for money? I’m really not sure.

Also, I think there is something Starling hasn’t told Fitz. Maybe more to her motives than a song. Somethig about her... (hide spoiler)]

Ch 17...

(view spoiler)[ well, Burl has caught Fitz. I know Fitz hasnt ever made a man do something or believe something against his own will. But why hasnt he tried yet?? He knows its possible to do so. He also didnt know he could listen in to others’ Skilling or that he dream-Skills, but he can. So why not make the guards release Starling or make Burl release him and the pilgrims?

So frustrating. BUT he is in Moonseye now, the home of his mother. So I hope something interesting occurs here! (hide spoiler)]

Just up to chapter 11, so cannot read those spoilers yet, but I am hoping to get a good chunk read tomorrow. I am so hooked now!

(view spoiler)[ The paragraph when Fitz describes the Fool’s features made me think he was decribing a lover! Saying “my heart turned over in my chest”. Then goin on to descrube how the botishness gd left him. If Fitz and the Fool became lovers, I would not be baffled by that turn of events! (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ i’m sure glad Fitz turned Starlighy down. Not only did her question of “how did Molly feel” about Nighteyes dharing ‘everything’ strike me as childish and vindictive. But Fitz would have to add another thing to his list of lies and omissions he’s yet told Molly!!! I mean, how much can one small lady handle?!?!??? (hide spoiler)]

I am enjoying the group traveling in the Mountains!

I'm reading it so slowly... I will try to read and catch up some this weekend !

(view spoiler)[ I was surprised to see that Molly and Burrich happened. I thought it should be that way, but thought the author would want that “happy ending”. So im glad!

But sad that most of them are strangers to one another. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I wasn't too fond of the ending. Things escalated too much. I love Hobbs writing skills but, for me, the storyline has its flaws. The characters aren't deep enough and the storyline is too straight forward for my taste. But hey, Hobbs writing is so good that I'll read a book about paint drying if she wrote it.

I liked that Molly ended up with Burrich though. Fitting and a bit surprising.

Goodreads acts really stupid with spoilers in quotes sometimes...

And I also agree with what you said about her writing skills :) And imo the next books in her Realms of the Elderlings series became better amd better.

Yea thats my conundrum now is; do I continue reading?

It’s a new set of characters.

I started on The Mad Ship today.

But the trilogy afterwards (the third one) is again about Fitz and Co. ;) It's called the Tawny Man and starts with Fool's Errand.

Huh. Well I heard the Liveship Traders series was the best of Hobb’s books so maybe I will pick that up!

So far so good.

It’s refreshing to read fantasy with such literary quality.

Just 70 odd pages to go. It took me a while, but I am hanging on to Hobb's every word - that does not happen to me that often.
I don't want to finish this trilogy!
