Kaylin McFarren (kaylinmcfarren) | 30 comments Twisted Threads is a new stand alone erotic, psychological thriller in Kaylin McFarren’s Threads series and reviews are most welcome. Here's my book summary:

Akira Hamada is driven by past failure. Two years earlier, she had a chance to kill her greatest enemy--Kaito Mitsui. Instead, the Yakuza boss forced her to become an assassin in his employ. Now Akira carries out the bloody business of the notorious crime syndicate and hates herself more each day.

When Mitsui hears that his sister's murderer will be on the cruise ship Starfish, he immediately tasks Akira with eliminating the man once and for all. This is what Akira has trained for, but a series of strange events on the ship tests her resolve and shows her a way to redemption.

Devon Lyons, on the other hand, has nothing to do with assassins. He's merely accompanying his aunt and uncle, Sara and Paul Lyons, on a free cruise. Little does he know that the two are the true targets of the charming Japanese tourist he has just met!

Akira knows that either Sara or Paul is the killer but doesn't know which one. She hopes seducing the handsome Devon will lead to better intel, but she is surprised to find herself trusting him. And soon, the pair finds themselves fighting for their lives on the high seas.

And here's my Book Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0WQy...

This is the final stand-alone book in my Threads series. It is filled with interesting, flawed characters on a Caribbean cruise, where bodies seem to be dropping on a daily basis and no one seems to have answers. The editorial reviews I've received this week call this new book a riveting, tantalizing story of murder, sex and intrigue. My ideas for this book came from my own experiences of traveling throughout Asia and cruising around the world. But I have to admit that I've never met anyone as twisted as the characters I write about. :)

Sounds intense. I am headed to your page now to download for kindle. Can't wait to review it!

My novel is in the political thriller genre. Here is what pre-release critics have said about it:

"If you've ever wondered what the adjectives "rip-snorting" or "humdinger" mean, pick up The Chaos of Change by J.T. Riggen and you'll know." - Readers' Favorite Reviews

"...Intense. Fast paced! A DEFINITE recommend!" - Author Viga Boland

"Political thriller writing at its best! A satisfying blend of fast-paced action and strong characterization makes for a fine story that's riveting, realistic, and hard to put down." - D. Donovan, Senior Reviewer, Midwest Book Reviews

"Riggen meticulously takes these characters and wraps them in both their pride and arrogance, before sending them off to dance to Death's tune." - Robin Goodfellow, Black Magic Reviews

SYNOPSIS:

Welcome to the imminent future: the American political gap is maximized; the individual states have begun clamoring for the disbandment of their federal government for its lack of stability; multiple power-hungry groups lick their chops at the thought of grabbing the reigns of the United States of America. And then a nation defining incident occurs, Article V of the U.S. Constitution is activated, and three sovereign territories come into existence.

But this hardly bothers Thaddeus Jackson – the son of a popular former president – who had money, fame, and a promising career in politics…until he ran away to the Alaskan wilderness to live in peace away from his family and the growing civil unrest.

What few know is that an elite group – led by Shane Wallace, Director of the CIA – has taken action. They recruit the very hesitant Thaddeus to be part of a diplomatic team tasked to negotiate the seemingly impossible peace between the liberal leaders of the North and his dysfunctional, republican family that now runs the South. The team includes Lozen Kyway, a highly-trained female agent turned bodyguard; Dr. Andreas Albrecht, a brilliant engineer and scientist who believes he’s discovered a truly sustainable, albeit dangerous, energy source; and Tomas Martinez, the former Vice President.

This elite group, and all its supporting team, will come together in a race against the clock to divert the territories away from war. New-age patriots will rise and fall, and new threats to democracy – never before imagined – will emerge from the shadows. Can the well-intentioned come together fast enough to ward off war in the states? Whose intentions are noble? Whose are full of malicious intent? Prepare yourself for an American era teeming with espionage, lies, murder, manipulation...The Chaos of Change!

Riggen's second novel, The Chaos of Change, is a new edition to the great political thriller traditions of Brad Meltzer, Barry Eisler, and Tim Tigner.

Early reviews have praised Bubblegum for its fun, dark story, multi-dimensional LGBT characters and action-packed momentum. From Travis West: "A wonderful cast of unique, flawed and diverse characters. LGBT superheroes. Non-stop action, from the first damn page."

I am currently looking for readers to offer an honest review in exchange for a digital copy of Bubblegum. I am willing to do a "review swap" as well.

Dovie Ruth | 27 comments My debut novel is a psychological thriller. Professionally, I have worked in mental health/special education for decades. Being a new author has certainly stretched what I thought were my limits. Growth is good, though, right?

Saints of Camarillo is an inside look at California State mental hospital through the eyes of a psychology intern from a religious university in the 1970s. She got more of an education than was ever intended. Based on a true story. Be aware there are adult themes and content.

I am hoping to give and receive many book reviews.

If you buy a book or are gifted one and post an honest review, why would Amazon remove this? The way I understand it paid reviews from internet sites are being taken down.

Connie Shipley | 18 comments I read that an italian book blogger (who's done a lot of book reviews) had all their reviews on amazon cancelled. They even send a message to Amazon for explanation, but they didn't bother to answer. So I guess now even famous reviewers will start getting their reviews deleted...

message 37: by Sari (new)

Sari Taurez | 4 comments Several reviews on my Amazon page said they were ARCs received for free from the author, and they haven't been removed. I think Amazon is really inconsistent on this "policy"... I just keep crossing my fingers that my reviews won't get removed! It's terrible that they do that, especially since they don't have an official policy on it.

Dovie Ruth | 27 comments Some of the other review groups set up a fixed subgroup, then carefully distribute the review assignments like a round robin so that no two people are reviewing each other's books. I am wondering if the moderators would be open to doing that so we will all be protected.

So, for example, if you have 15 people who want to participate, everyone could be assigned 5-7 books to review and still be safe. You might not get exactly the books you want to read, but the end result is still the same.
