So here's the thing. I don't want to not be able to start any new series in 2018 (despite the fact that I already have 70 ongoing series.) There are so many series I've been wanting to start for years that I want to get to this year! Not even including all the book clubs and buddy read that I have. So this is what's going to happen. I'm going to limit the series that I start but also reward myself for finishing series and reading sequels. Here are the rules.

1. For every sequel that I read I get $1 to spend on books. (this will come into effect after 10 books are read for an easy way for me to track it.)
2. For every 4 sequels that I read I will be allowed to start 1 more series
3. For every 3 series that I catch up on I will be allowed to start 1 more series
4. For every 2 series that I complete I will be allowed to start 1 more series.
5. No books will count for 2 things. For example, if I read 4 sequels but one of them finishes a series for me it will be split up ie. 3 sequels & 1 finished series.
6. Buddy Reads & Book Clubs wont count as my rewarded series. (I thought about this a lot and the reason I decided this is because I love doing those 2 things and don't want to feel like I'm missing out on books because I don't have enough sequels read. As it is, I usually have 4-6 buddy reads and book club books every month that are the start to new series. So I'm going to work on what I can and keep up with my new series.)

Libby Gregory | 7 comments This is a very good idea, i like the money one, for every book you read you put $1/ $2/ $3 and so forth to books, i love this

Rebekah (rebekahdw) Oh, I love the idea of putting aside a set amount of money for every sequel read. I might try this, but for finishing books in general, not just sequels. As it is now, I spend practically all of my money on books! I need to figure out how to buy less books, or at least buy less books if I'm not going to read them soon after buying.

I've done different versions in the past but I think this one will work best for me.

One version that I did was for every book I finished I would get a $0.01 per page. So then if I read a 368 page book I would get $3.68 to spend on new books. I feel like it's more forgiving than just a $1 per book. And that way you wont feel like shying away from longer books.

So here's the thing. Keeping up with this and reading new releases which are often book 1 in a new series just isn't possible for me. So I've decided that new books that don't have a sequel out yet don't count. But I still want to keep track of them so here they are. (I'm including books that are only out on audio even if the physical sequels are out. If more are coming on audio, I'm waiting for that.)

Death Below Stairs
The Cruel Prince
Hot and Badgered
Hate to Want You
Realms of Ghosts and Magic
A Princess in Theory
The Kiss Quotient
Aru Shah and the End of Time
Wicked and the Wallflower
Peanut Butter and Jelly
Texas Destiny
The Adventure Zone: Here There Be Gerblins
Box of Frogs

And here are the books that I'm just plain behind on.

The Prince of the Pond: Otherwise Known as De Fawg Pin
Betsy-Tacy
The Raven Boys
The Highwayman
Firefighter Dragon
Cinder
Her Halloween Treat
The Princess And The Goblin
