Started! Enjoying so far.

I have started early too (Because I have a few other reads lined up end of Feb! xD)! Enjoying it so far as well... even though I do want to get back to the Wayfarer the current focus is intriguing to say the least.

Finished! Wow, this just pulled me in and I couldn't stop.

End of Book: (view spoiler)[I really liked that we knew more or less from the start that Jane was Pepper.

I enjoyed the jump back and forward approach with the Jane/Pepper character. I think that might be what made if fun for me. We know from early on the Jane is going to be ok. (hide spoiler)]

Starting this today. Really liked the first book, so quite excited.

Not quite ready to start this just yet, but hoping to be by the end of the week!

Aaaand I finished it on Sunday! After a certain point in the story I too just got pulled in and couldn't stop til the end! One of my favourite (view spoiler)[aspect was the kits sensory feedback in the form of vignettes in place of feelings - really nicely done there!

I also liked the almost "Swiss Family Robinson"-ish aspect of Pepper's back story on the Enhanced's scrap world - outfitting her own ship etc. (hide spoiler)]

The next book is Record of a Spaceborn Few... it's about (view spoiler)[the Exodus Fleet generation ship that humanity lived on before the aliens found them... and, I think, finding a purpose where it no longer has one... (hide spoiler)]

Any idea whether there will be any more books beyond the next one?

I'm pretty new to Becky Chambers... but she doesn't seem to announce very far ahead... I think it's safe to assume, tho... the series is setup as loosely connected standalones...

I am still in the early sections of this one. So I guess this is mainly going to be about Lovelace/Sirda finding a new life?

I started this a couple hours ago... halfway already... looks like it, Arkadeb...

I thought this was going to be more like the first book, before I started... but what it has been instead isn't bad... just a bit more limited in scope of characters... I'd say there's basically 5 main characters... (view spoiler)[Lovelace/Sirda, Jane/Pepper, Blue, Owl, and Tak the tattoo artist... (hide spoiler)]

Agree about the characters, as for the message board I am a bit unsure about it, but I think that it could easily be the case.

At the moment my favourite parts are the Jane sections. Watching her learn and develop is really awesome and I can see the inverted reflections in the current storyline.

Finally got my hold in from the library started this today haven't gotten too far in yet but liking it so far. Pepper is great helping Sidra figuring out her way in the world.

I'm about halfway through this book is more focussed on Sidri and learning more about Peppers past. (view spoiler)[The Jane parts were so sad they didn't know anything besides the factory and their tasks. They were so isolated. The picnic chat parts have been funny at times so much like message boards and chatrooms of past and present. It's been great seeing how Sidra is adjusting to the kit especially being able to get memories of things. My fave part so far is Tak explaining why people get tattoos. (hide spoiler)]

I wonder how the third book will connect to this one... I have another friend who started reading this one with only vague recollections of the first book and now she finds she can't connect with the characters that she needs to go back and re-read the first. Which made me wonder how the the third was going to connect with this book (and maybe the first one too?) since it seems we are going back into space (yes!)

I thought it was going to be more like the first book too but it wasn't long before I got fully invested in the story. And I liked the picnic interludes (view spoiler)[although I did not think about it being Sidra! Although now that I think about it - could be! (hide spoiler)]

I love the picnic parts! Reminds me of IRC. Haha! (view spoiler)[And I love the kit feedback mod - those vignettes for taste and similar sensory feedback is gold! I thought Tak's tattoo explanation was appealing too! (hide spoiler)]

This book had a much tighter cast and scope, I think... there's very little connection to the first book... Sidra isn't Lovelace, really... and Pepper was on about 5 pages maybe...

Indeed. It is a whole different book. I am wondering whether it could have been read as a standalone.

I'm finished (view spoiler)[ I was really worried that Tak would stop being friends with Sidra I was glad when they tried to understand what Sidra was going through. I can't believe Pepper was there for 9 years before she was able to leave her planet. Its awesome that she was able to fix everything. It was good seeing how blue and Pepper met. I guess since he has a stuttering problem their people had no use for him anymore. I loved when Sidra realized she was starting to get used to the kit the part where she wanted to be sitting on the floor with Tak and Pepper. I think this is my fave of the series so far. I enjoyed learning more about Pepper and seeing Sidra coming into her own. (hide spoiler)] I'm excited to read the next book to learn more about the exodans.

My only problem with the book is that it ended :)

I have to say I like the Jane parts more than the Sidra parts so far, and I'm about halfway through. Glad to finally get the time to be back on this.
