Cat Freeman (cattutt) | 11 comments I'm new to the group, but I read the rules and I think it's okay for me to post this. Would anyone be interested in reading A Christmas Peril with me? I'd love a buddy or some buddies!

:-D

Hilary (A Wytch's Book Review) (knyttwytch) Sounds like an interesting read - I could be up for that!

MadameZelda Not in my library at this time. (Bit too pricey for me.)

Betty (bettylouise54) | 582 comments I have been wondering who is the author? There are 5 books with that title.

I'd love it if you wanted to join me! I have my copy waiting at the library to pick up, when would you like to start?

MadameZelda wrote: "Not in my library at this time. (Bit too pricey for me.)"

Aw, sorry to hear it's pricey. That's a bummer. Maybe next time we will land on something we both have! :-)

Betty wrote: "I have been wondering who is the author? There are 5 books with that title."

Yep, it is the one Hilary linked by J.A. Hennrikus. I hope you are interested in joining!

Betty (bettylouise54) | 582 comments I need to check out the cost before I commit. It does sound interesting.

Sure! If you use the library, you might want to check there too. That's where I'm getting my copy. :-)

Betty (bettylouise54) | 582 comments My library doesn't carry ebooks. My eyes allow only reading an ebook. I won't pay over $8.00 for a book, even some of my favorite authors, I pass on $8.00. I read about 1 book a day and my budget won't allow the higher cost. I don't want to pay for a book I can't
give away.

I'm in the middle of a book right now that I will probably finish tomorrow, so how would Thursday or Friday be?

Aw man, super bummer that your library doesn't do ebooks! That would be so helpful for you! I definitely understand not wanting to pay that much for one. I don't buy many ebooks and when I do, it makes me crazy to pay more than $5 for one. If I can't have an actual BOOK it doesn't seem worth the money to me. So I definitely get it!

Hilary (A Wytch's Book Review) (knyttwytch) How about Monday next week? start the week with a book!

Sounds like a good plan to me! How do these work, have you ever done one? Do we just read a certain amount and chat about it afterward?

Hilary (A Wytch's Book Review) (knyttwytch) I believe so hmm wonder of there is a hint on the group anywhere!

It looks like most of the others have been about reading a book series, not a single book. So I guess we'll make it up as we go along! :-)

Hilary (A Wytch's Book Review) (knyttwytch) Okay! Always up for the weird and wonderful cosy wise lol

You can set it up however you wish. In other groups I am in where we do monthly group reads, they generally do a "no spoilers" before a certain date -- or ask people to use the "spoiler" tag (See 'some html is ok' above comment box). You can break the discussion down by a group of chapters, or do it on the book as a whole. Entirely up to you, just make sure you continue the discussion in this thread. '-)

Hilary (A Wytch's Book Review) (knyttwytch) Thank you Heather!

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments Don't like paying $15.00 for a paperback unless it's an author I already "know" and since I don't much care for reading books on my Kindle anyway, I won't go over $4.00 or $5.00 for an e-book...and then it has to be for something I REALLY want and can't get other than as an e-book!

Completely understandable. I only have it because I was able to get it from my library. I got lucky. :-)

Hilary (A Wytch's Book Review) (knyttwytch) Well I started reading it today and errr finished it as well! I like Sully - she has found a niche in her old home town and I hope there will be more books as at the moment this is the only one.

I think I'll begin on Wednesday (currently reading another book), but I definitely will read it.

message 26: by Cat (new) - rated it 4 stars

Cat Freeman (cattutt) | 11 comments Wow, you finished that fast!! I'm going to start it tonight or tomorrow. I hope I like it as much as you seem to have liked it!

Hilary (A Wytch's Book Review) (knyttwytch) It just seemed to be my type of book and just flowed! Thank you Cat for suggesting it!

message 28: by Cat (new) - rated it 4 stars

Cat Freeman (cattutt) | 11 comments I'm glad you liked it! I started it last night but I'm only about 30 pages in. Got a late start on it. I'll probably get through a chunk of it tonight though!

I want to say thanks to Cat for choosing this book. It would have been much more time in my TBR but I've enjoyed it a lot, as it is a setting that you usually don't see.

message 30: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Been away for several days and I was just scrolling down posts and saw this and it made me laugh because one of my favorite Christmas cozies is called "Fruitcake", it's the second in a series and the heroine's name is "Cat."
