Sumit Singla (sumitsingla) We've got some exciting stuff being read this month, and let's figure out what we intend to read in August as well.

Please nominate 2 books each from any genre you suggest with the first as your primary choice and the second one as your secondary choice.

We'll get the poll going towards the middle of next week (or maybe towards the end).

The book that wins most votes gets picked for the July read, and the runner-up can be adopted for a side-read or a buddy read.

Srividya Vijapure (theinkedmermaid) Train to Pakistan - as Independence Day special read

Anirudh I would like to nominate a non fiction for a change :)

Band of Brothers: E Company, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne from Normandy to Hitler's Eagle's Nest Band of Brothers E Company, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne from Normandy to Hitler's Eagle's Nest by Stephen E. Ambrose

It is a story of soldiers who fought in World War 2. Who kept on fighting as their friends kept dying. A story of the people who are responsible for the shaping of the world.

My second choice would be Child 44 Child 44 (Leo Demidov, #1) by Tom Rob Smith
A suspense thriller about a serial killer of children set in 1950s Soviet Russia, where Crimes are not investigated by the govt to protect their Utopian image.

Srividya Vijapure (theinkedmermaid) Why do I get the feeling that 'The Goldfinch' is going to be our next read, or at least one of the next reads?? :) :)

The Martian

Sumit Singla (sumitsingla) Sri, if we have The Goldfinch, I don't think too many people will finish it in a month. :P

Misha (itz_mie) sumit, I agree... :-D :-D

Sumit Singla (sumitsingla) Nevertheless, we'll put it up on the poll and let people decide. :)

Em*Greedy* (Iniya) (iniya_n) I nominate for India after Gandhi and looking for alaska.,.

Em*Greedy* (Iniya) (iniya_n) @fong don't want clash with monthly botms:P:P:P

Srividya Vijapure (theinkedmermaid) I agree Sumit.. but the consensus at least in terms of nomination seems to be that book.. So I guess we are going to have to make room for it as a side read at least, if not next month then at least some time in the near future :) But as you said, let the people decide :)

message 24: by Bhavya (new)

Bhavya Mathur I second The Princess Bride. Read the book a while ago and fell in love with it :)

ROFL, now that you mention it - the wheel has come full circle indeed. :P

But yes, if folks want to read it, we'll surely do that and not do the 'THISSS ISSSSS SSSSPPAAAARRTAAAA' routine. :P

Srividya Vijapure (theinkedmermaid) OMG - Not here as well!!!! Sumit!!!!!! :P :P

message 29: by Anoop (new)

Just a suggestion - maybe we can select a book for tri-monthly read.. start and finish a book over 3 months, along with monthly reads.
