You know the drill. Share your favourite book of the month here. :)

If you want to list all the books you read in November, head over to the What are you reading? thread.

Oathbringer
Deadhouse Landing

Tie and not surprisingly my two favorite series that are still in progress.

message 3: by Kieron (new)

Kieron Scott have you seen the suggested reading order for Malazan on tor.com. I'd put a link in here but I'm on the app on my phone. Its a different order that Erikson and Esselmont have come up with.

Saul the Heir of Isauldur (krinnok) | 209 comments Elric of Melniboné and Other Stories

I'd wanted to read this or the longest time and I finally did :D

message 5: by RuinEleint (new)

RuinEleint Deadhouse Landing followed by Oathbringer for me.

No. I did the recommended order and have zero regrets.

message 7: by Kieron (new)

Kieron Think I will be sticking to the recommend order as well, now that I have started it.

So i looked at that article and think it's BS. They moved all the chronological books to the start but I think the motivation is sales. There's no way Kharkanas is as good without the history of botf. If you read deadhouse landing before NOK you would think what happened to ICE's prose.

Miche | 3279 comments Oathbringer without doubts.

message 10: by Bill (new)

Bill | 2150 comments The Obelisk Gate by N.K. Jemisin at this point but doing the last book atm so will see if that tops it. Still need to get to Oathbringer and Deadhouse.

message 11: by Chris (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2348 comments I think it will be Oathbringer in December for me. I've only read a couple hundred pages, so just barely getting into it.

I'd still vote for that, but I do want to throw a shout out to Bull Mountain, which surprised me and made me knock it out in just under two days.

Aside from Stormlight Archive (it's not even fair), I'd say Magic Shifts by Ilona Andrews. One of my favs of the series! :)

Kieron I was all confused about the order last week as well, but I am sticking with the order Scott and Jenna used after talking to them.

I read them in the recommended reading order and I still get confused about which book to read first.

I also really liked the disturbing short story The Husband Stitch.

EchoBaz(Unofficial World's Fastest Reader) | 459 comments This one's easy, because it's now my new favorite book.

Dark Matter

I cannot stress this enough. It's the best book I've ever read. Please, if you have the slighest interest in Speculative Fiction, read this book!

I liked DM a lot as well. I think it had a few plot faults but it was a great fast paced easy read that kept you totally entertained the entire time.

I loathed Dark Matter. I can’t even stress enough how much I hated that book 😬

I enjoyed Dark Matter too.

message 23: by Andrew (new)

Andrew | 653 comments The Passage turned out to be way better than I thought it would be. I had been putting it off for five years after getting a free copy of it. Should've read it years ago!

Book 1 of the Fionvar Tapestry, The Summer Tree, has also been good. I could see it beating out The Passage as my top monthly read if the ending is as good as most GGK endings.

Olivia (vinjii) | 1144 comments I don’t think anything can top GGK’s Summer Tree. But if yes I’ll make sure to come back for now that’s the one. The Summer Tree

message 25: by Mayim (new)

Mayim de Vries | 2948 comments I came here expecting to see nothing but Oathbringer. :D

I second (third) Andrew and Olivia: The Summer Tree! Beyond fantastic, straight into the epic.

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments Okay for non BR my top read is The Way of Kings and for the buddy read well it is between War of the flowers and Ruin I'll have to finish WOTF to see which is best

Delitealex | 403 comments Top BR Steeplejack (Alternative Detective, #1) by A.J. Hartley and non BR Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour

I read Dark Matter early in the year and loved it. I've recommended it to several people since.

message 29: by Hailee (new)

Hailee | 2762 comments Well I've only read one book this month due to being away for tge first three weeks of November I was in a huge reading slump both before and during and this book has definately helped me out of it so I think it counts:

Redshirts by John Scalzi . It was really quite fun and a must read for fans of Star Trek The Original Series.

Non Fantasy this month. My favourite read was Northwest Angle (Cork O'Connor, #11) by William Kent Krueger (Cork O'Connor #11). Fantastic mystery series and I can't believe I've read 11 of the books this year! 5 more to go and I'm up to date.

Blood Song.

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 1578 comments Probably Oathbringer for me. Now I just need to write a review.

message 34: by Chris (new)

Chris (murphy44) | 710 comments My top read was Ready Player One, and my month even included The Well of Ascension and it was good, but didn't hold up to RPO! I can see myself giving a reread to RPO in the future, that's how much I enjoyed it!

message 35: by Meagz (new)

Meagz (meagzbond) | 4 comments Ready player one and shadow and bone. I will add to the Dark Matter discussion and I'm a hard no on how I would never recommend that book to anyone. It went on and on for ever. I want all that time I spent reading that garbage and buy a better book with it.
