everyone in my family loves to read and my friends enjoy reading though not as much as me
nothing influences the way i read other then if a book is banned then id probebly read it! (lol :D)
and i read because it takes me into another world...i know that sounds cheesy but its true i always get really into the storys that im reading and it effects me very emotionally. when a story is sad i could end up being sad for a day when a story has a happy ending ill be so happy for those nonexistant charactors and when im in a bad mood from something in real world i forget all about it when i read...so ya....thats why i read.
(and of course its just the suspence of wondering whats going to happen next and the suprise that i get when a book has an unexpected ending that keeps me going!!)

Thank you!

I live in the United States.
I love to read a lot, and do so in any moment of free time that I possibly can, I always have a book on me!
In a book, I look for good plot and something I can relate to and draw emotion from, but also something I can really get into. My favorite genre ranges, and I don't think I could ever pick a favorite book, and some of my favorite authors include Ellen Hopkins, Jennifer Niven, and Robin Roe! John Green, too, ha ha.
Something I dislike in books is excessive dialouge, or books that have romance as a main point of the story. If its an action/thriller story that contains a couple as the main characters, that's fine. But I don't like romance based novels that are lovey-dovey and dramatic.
I have many friends who read and some family as well!
Reviews really influence what I read, and I'll be honest and say I tend to judge books by their covers. I also tend to read books that I recognize the author, especially if I liked a book they've made in the past.
I read because it gives me another world to escape to when the real one is a little unbearable. I read to feel happy and get excited over what I'm reading. I love the rush of a good book! Reading has always been important to me, always been something I take great interest in. Reading is my life, ha ha.
Hope this helped your class!

My favorite genres are Fantasy and Contemporary, depending on what mood I'm in. Cassandra Clare, Leigh Bardugo, Rick Riordan, and J.K. Rowling are currently my favorite authors in Fantasy. John Green and Morgan Matson are my favorite authors in Contemporary. Despite liking romance in books, I love it when there are strong, well-developed non-romantic relationships between characters (like between siblings, friends, parents, etc.). I also like books with more poetic writing, like The Book Thief and I'll Give You the Sun.
I strongly dislike Kiera Cass as an author. In most cases, I absolutely despise love triangles and have stopped reading many books simply because there was one. I generally dislike books that don't have action or a plot.
Most of my friends read; love of books is how I became friends with many of them in the first place.
I'd say that I'm very likely to read a friend or teacher book recommendation. Also, if a book is hyped on Goodreads or Booktube, I'm more likely to read it or plan on reading it. Certain awards, like the yearly Goodreads Choice Awards, influence what I read not right away, but the following year.
I used to read simply because books are often more eventful than my own life and sometimes I just need a break from the boredom. It's become more than that, though. When reading, I get to fall in love with characters and fictional places that the things in my real life don't even compare to. The way I see it, it's easier to fall in love with something in a book than something in my real life. Also, I read a lot, so I get to feel those feelings a lot.
Good luck in your class! I enjoyed answering. I hope this was helpful!

How much do you read/ how much do you like to read? I read at least once a day, and for a pretty solid chunk of time. I really enjoy reading.
What do you like in books? Favorite genres? Books? Authors?
Themes? Book: The Hate U Give
Genre: Young Adult, Mental Health (if you call that a genre, lol), Historical/Historical Fiction, Realistic Fiction, Memoir/Autobiography, and Poetry/Verse.
What do you dislike in books? Least favorite books or authors? I don't like when books are hard to follow and when the plot(s) and/or character(s) are undeveloped.
Do you know anyone who reads? (friends, family, etc.) Yes, I know a lot of people actually.
Does anything influence what you read? (friends, awards, social media, hype, banned books, etc.) Friends, hype, Goodreads, and teachers.
Why do you read? It's just something I enjoy reading. I use it as a way to cope with things as well as to relate to something (events, characters, etc.) when I don't want to or feel like I can go to something or someone.

How much do you read/ how much do you like to read?
I read a book every day or however long it takes for me to read books. Most of the days, I always have a book with me.
I am a HUGE sucker for romance. I also love action and fantasy.
Some of my favorite genres are fantasy, contemporary romance, fiction, and adventure.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Cassandra Clare and all her books. I also love Suzanne Young and her Program series.
I hate when books are so slow paced. I probably haven't read enough to dislike a specific thing.
My dad reads, but none of my friends do. That's why I blog about them.
YouTubers who talk about books inspire a lot of my reads. So does Goodreads.
Why do you read?
I read because it's fun to lose yourself in this world and enter into the new one you hold. I read because I love getting to know each perspective in a book. Every time I finish a book/series, I really feel like I know that person like we could be friends in real life. I read because it's an adventure, a journey. You can feel just like the narrator- and I love that. I love watching the character grow and sometimes I can grow with them. Whenever a character I really know dies, it can be really sad because it's like losing a small part of you. I also read because books carry lessons and advice I may need to use in the future. I read because I love it. I love to read so much I eve started a blog!
Hopefully you don't mind that I wrote a lot, I am in a writing mood. GOOD LUCK IN YOUR CLASS!!! XD

I'm 17 years old, in my first semester of CEGEP (I live in Quebec, so we have CEGEP in between High school and University. I think this is the equivalent of grade 12 in other parts of Canada and in the United States, but there's more freedom, like you would have in Uni.)
I live and was born in Canada.
I think I read a fair amount, averaging about 50 books a year, most of which is YA. In my prime, I'll read at least a book a week, but it's not unusual if I don't have enough free time to finish one every week.
Favourites: My favourite genres are usually Urban Fantasy, Epic Fantasy, Sci-fi, and Dystopian. I'll read the occasional contemporary but they aren't my favourite. Favourite books include Strange the Dreamer, Six of Crows, anything Harry Potter, and the list goes on. I also love anything by Sarah J Maas, Cassandra Clare, and Laini Taylor.
Themes? I guess I don't really care about themes in novels, I'm pretty open about them. Anything goes, essentially.
Dislikes: I'd say I dislike clichés, but that's not always true. I'm a firm believer of "clichés are clichés for a reason" and I think if they're done well they can be really good. I guess I mostly dislike contemporary novels, because (oddly enough) they never feel realistic to me. I also hate when characters do stupid things, or when they keep secrets from their friends because they want to "protect them." I can't think of any books or authors that I vehemently hate. I tend to avoid novels I know I won't enjoy.
My dad likes to read YA, and I use to have a friend that read a bit, but most of my close friends don't read, and I certainly don't know anyone well who reads as much as I do. Reading is a solitary hobby for me.
Does anything influence what you read? When I was younger, I decided what to read next by showing up at the bookstore and picking a book of the shelf. I also would ask my grade 8 English teacher or my school librarian for recommendations (both of whom, though way above the intended audience, were more up-to-date on Young Adult novels than I was). Now most of my reading choices are influenced by social media ("whats new, whats hot, whats good?"). Things like Goodreads, Instagram (Bookstagram) and Youtube (Booktube) are key influencers for me.
I started reading because I didn't have a lot of friends. Reading offered me some enjoyable entertainment to fill my time, as well as friendships and stories that I could always depend on. I grew to love it (I didn't always). I've since made friends, but the reading has stuck. It's such a key part of who I am now. I read because I love storytelling, and I love the characters and plots and adventures. I read because I think it's such a fascinating form of communication, and it's one of the few that I completely understand. I read because I want to be a writer, and that's the only way to truly learn. I read because it's entertaining, and fun, and creative. I read because I like the lessons books teach me, and I like the way reading expands by horizons without my ever having to leave my home.
I hope I'm not too late to answer for your assignment. Anyway I had fun answering these questions. I give you permission to use it in your assignment if you need to, of course. Good luck!

I read a lot I guess because I love reading but sometimes I think back on the books I've read and I feel like I really haven't read that many books.
I love very strong characters; I'll root for the underdog I guess, but more often than not I find myself annoyed with the underdog. I also absolutely love sassy, arrogant fictional characters who, in real life, would actually completely piss me off. I tend to like fantasy books, mostly fae, vampires, etc.
It's hard to say what I dislike in books because it's usually more do I like the characters and do I think there's a good plot? It's actually kind of hard to say.
I have a friend who loves reading and my sister and my cousins sometimes try to read more.
I have a friend who recommends books to me and we have many of the same preferences so I generally enjoy the books she recommends. I also like to see what the most popular books are because if people are reading it, there has to be a good reason, right? Searching up authors I like to see what other books they have written is another good way to find books.
I read because I enjoy it a lot. I love seeing other worlds and daydream about it and really just take a break from responsibility and reality in general.
