Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Thanks, Cody.

I did a little gophering and have book titles for all of the actors. It was harder than I thought for some of them. I was looking for books for the actual movie title. Lots were only screen plays, not based on books.

Sarah | 18550 comments Eager to see what books you have planned Cherie. Don't keep it all to yourself ;-)

message 5: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments LOL! I am gophering on my spreadsheet right now, but I definitely have 12 books placed for Part 1. I have 36 tasks filled up with books that I own and about 8 for library book slots, including all of the actor/movie titles I have decided on. Amazingly, I own a book for Sissy Spacek. I still have a lot of categories with no books yet. I have no books for any of the months. I know that there must be titles in my TBR, but I haven't looked yet. My Excel spread sheet skills are pretty rusty and I think I have spent way too much time fixing the cells. I still don't like the way it looks yet.

I am exactly the same, used to be brilliant on excel and now rusty is probably an understatement

message 7: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I was thinking of doing a spreadsheet then decided it against it once I thought to order my thread by star sign. My main worry was that I would miss a star sign.

message 8: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments I thought about that, too, but decided against also. I didn't want to look at such a BIG spreadsheet. 12 x 7 is fairly large, especially if you enter more than a few words of text.

Sandra (sanlema) | 11263 comments I am so bad at spreadsheets. I don't know why, it should be perfect for me since I love graphics, charts, maps, conceptual maps. My memory is very visual. But spreadsheets do not make me any favor...

ROLF! COME ON , I LIKED IT BETTER THE OTHER WAY! No frills, no editorials. I just figured that you'd be relying on your spreadsheet and would just fill things in as your reading progressed.

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments Cherie wrote: " Darn, I hate it when I leave the cover radio button on and have to go back and edit the links!..."

I KNOOOOOOW!

Here's a hint about bookcover HTML. The entire string is exactly the same as the "non-cover" HTML. So instead of having to use the HTML link ALL OVER AGAIN....just remove the word "cover" (from "bookcover") in the undesired string. TaDa! no cover, a link instead.

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments OMG, for some reason you hit a funny bone with Turkey Birds Without Wings! (Guess you had to be there.)

Never thought of it but "hieroglyphs" would offer the perfect cameo on the covers. Everyone should seek egyptian books.☻

It would be awesome if "2018 book Gentlemen Bastard #4" was actually released!

message 21: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59907 comments Are you aiming for the gusto, Cherie? That is - all 84 books.

message 22: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Until you pointed it out, I completely missed the coincidence between Turkey and the book title, Almeta.

Yes, I know about removing "cover" from the link. It just makes me mad when I forget and have to go back ten or twelve books later.

I really did think about not posting all of the book titles at the start, but where's the fun in that?

I'm not sure, Janice, if I will complete the entire 84 tasks. I still have plenty of series books to be read and I am still working on titles from the Geo Challenge list that I want to read. There are a few cross over catagories that I need to see if I can swap titles. The Greece books came from there. I know that I can read 84 books, but I have quite a few chunksters included. I think I'm going to use the fruit machine to choose which book to read first. I can't decide.

message 23: by Almeta (last edited Dec 04, 2017 05:14AM) (new)

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments Here's a January idea:

Lair of Dreams

"a small but enthusiastic crowd waited in the January drizzle"

"The last will and testament of Cornelus Rathbone, recorded this day, the fourth of January in the year of our Lord, One thousand nine hundred and seventeen"

"The gloom of January weighed on New Yorkers"

"Eight o'clock in the evening on January"

It is a sequel to The Diviners, which both you and I have given 5 stars.

message 24: by Cherie (last edited Dec 04, 2017 01:35PM) (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments @Almeta - I have The Diviners on my TBR list. I have not read it yet. It looks like Naomi did.

I scooped up a title from one of the new members. It was the only book link she had published on her list. It is a romance story, but I could live with it. I am interested in The Diviners though, so I will add Lair of Dreams too.. How old is Evie in the first book?

message 25: by Cherie (last edited Dec 04, 2017 01:42PM) (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I reformatted my lists. I like that better. Thanks for the suggestion to put the covers at the bottom, Janice and Almeta.

Evie is seventeen!!!

message 29: by Cherie (last edited Dec 05, 2017 01:42PM) (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments So, that gives me three books with a teenager. I guess I will add it to my list. The Diviners can be read as single woman under 20. Thanks!

I think I saw that someone had posted it as magic, but I don't see that in the genre list on my iPod. I'll look tomorrow on-line.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Roz wrote: "I'm going to have to "borrow" your format. What do they say about imitation? The sincerest form of flattery? 😉"

Borrow away! I borrowed it from someone else but I had to do a lot of editing. It might be easier to have 4 messages of three signs each, just for the book linking. It was a pain scrolling up and down. It was easier too, after I had filled out my spreadsheet.

I am still working on the spread sheet as I find more titles, but I am not sure I will put all of them in the links here. Oh - that reminds me. You read The Man from Beijing, I think. Was it at least half in China? I was looking at what I had listed. Maybe you read The Ginger Tree. I can't remember now.

message 34: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59907 comments The Ginger Tree sounds interesting. I see I have it on my wishlist.

message 35: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I lost my mind at a library book sale and bought about ten audio books, all on cassette tape, and The Ginger Tree was one of them. There are 8 double sided tapes. I have a tape player still, but it is not a portable one, which means I have to sit and listen to it. I guess I need to find a knitting project.

message 37: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4530 comments It was so long ago that I read The Man from Beijing, but I mostly remember the parts in Sweden. I remember I didn't really like it. Haven't read The Ginger Tree but it's on my tbr. Right now I'm reading (listening) to The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane, and it's primarily (so far) in China. I'm also finding out more about the tea industry than I ever knew.

message 38: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Thanks, Roz. Well, you gave me another choice for China too.

I found another that I thought was just Romans, but it is about some Romans that were captured and became slaves in Persia and escape with a Chinese prince and go to China with him. I will find the title and post it.

The story line in the 2nd Robinson Crusoe book has him going back to the island, getting Friday, sailing to China and trekking overland into Siberia and Russia. I jus may have to breakdown and read it, just because.

I thought I had read it, but didn't. I think I had it on hold but I must have missed the notice from my library last summer.
