Julie M (woolyjooly) | 314 comments Picked up a Kristina Ohlsson crime novel, ‘Hostage’ after dropping Camilla Lackberg’s (one Swede replaces another!) someone here on GR made the suggestion and commented on Lackberg’s stereotypical (or sexist) characters. I had to agree (Ice Princess) And am liking Ohlsson’s novel better, though this is the middle of a series. Also reading ‘Being Mortal’ by Atul Gawunde, nonfiction about US cultural attitudes toward the elderly, physician-patient relationships & how we deal with end-of-life issues in families and medical/hospice care (poorly, to say the least, in most instances.) Scary, yet thought provoking, as I enter my 7th decade!!

I think I should make a New Year's resolution to not read books that make my blood pressure rise.

Oh. My. Gosh! I just finished The Hummingbird by Stephen P. Kiernan The Hummingbird. That just became the best book I read in 2017.

Started The Grave's a Fine and Private Place (Flavia de Luce, #9) by Alan Bradley The Grave's a Fine and Private Place. I've had an e-arc for awhile and always had deadlines before. Now's the deadline for this one.
