Marie | 30 comments Each week, we do show case 10 manuscripts and or newly published books of all genre, ranging from children’s books to non-fiction biographies.

Authors are expected to send summaries of about 2000 words and a PDF copy for the reviewing panel of 7 for more depth if needs because 10 books a week is a lot of reading in only ONE week.

Authors are welcome to attend for book signing as well.

Barbara Woodward | 6 comments Hello Marie
I have been looking for someone who may wish to review my new book and hope that your group may decide to do so. I worked in the disability field for more than 30 years and learned so much about the imperative of focussing on the emotional status of each person with a disability. It is especially important with those who unable to communicate well or at all. I was aware of a shortfall of that kind of insight and demonstrated how even in the most urgent situations, positive outcomes can result by understanding how an individual may be feeling. How we approach or interact is crucial to helping someone feel valued or less fearful or mistrustful. I have kept the information positive and provided some history as to why, like mental health issues, those with a disability, especially intellectual disability, has resulted in a measure of prejudice and even fear. I have given a voice to some of my ex-'clients' who show and tell how they are essentially the same as anyone else in our society. You will get to read of some remarkable outcomes in their everyday lives just by showing them kindness and understanding. I have found that one of the most important ways we can make a worthwhile difference to those who may be on the discriminated spectrum, is to try to consider how I would feel in their position. There is no room for pity in my factual stories, but I do believe that reading my book is an informative, insightful and joyful experience. ( a readers comments to me) I was delighted with that as from feedback, I now believe that my book has helped dispel some ignorance about what being perceived as different really means. I especially hope that those considering or working in the disability sector, reads my journey. But anyone at all, is a perfect candidate as the concept of misunderstanding anyone who may seem different is widespread in our society. My story is entirely based on fact, as I said, but I have preserved each individual's privacy so changed their names. To be honest, I believe this book about disability is unique as I have not come across another that is written by someone working in the field.-even though there are many great books on specific disabilities. I would be happy to supply my book in the form best suited to you. I do know that Amazon has provided for a 'look inside' preview with the Forward by Moira Kelly, my Introduction and first two chapters. however, I can forward a PDF of the entire book if you so desire. Thankyou for this opportunity and I hope, on behalf of those who are in my book, that you may be able to assist them with sharing their story with greater exposure, I have decided to share any potential profits with a range of charities as I believe that this particular book belongs to those featured in the book. Thanks again and may you be good to you. Barbara
