Good Reads
Lauren Henderson
Sam Jones, artist and amateur sleuth, is booked for a showing of Young British Artists in a fancy Manhattan gallery and finds lots of action plus a few bodies during her eventful stay in the Big Apple. I had not read this series in years but found Sam as fun as before and enjoyed the look at the late 1990s art scene.
C.J. Box
This is a pleasant enough series on audio though the lead character, Wyoming Game Warden Joe Pickett, drives me crazy sometimes. The narration by David Chandler was well done and kept me engaged with the story even when it seemed to get a bit strange.
Richard Stark
Parker is as cool and effective as ever and this book was just as well written and plotted as the previous entries in the series. Listened to the audio version which was ably narrated by Stephen Thorne.
Priscilla Royal
A nicely done historical mystery. I really like the main character, Eleanor the young Prioress of Tyndale, the plot was engaging, and the historical details interesting.
Tess Gerritsen
While this did not have the most plausible plot, I did enjoy the fast pace and found it very suspenseful. Listened to the audio version which was narrated by Tanya Eby who I thought did a good job.
Oliver Bleeck
This was another good quick read in this series that features a professional go between. In this book St. Ives is hired by a thief whose diaries, that chronicle his past jobs, have been stolen. Lots of action and a nice suspenseful ending.
Bruce Springsteen
While I am not the biggest Bruce fan, I did find this to be an interesting memoir. I enjoyed the writing style and even though it was a pretty long book I had no problems staying engaged.
OK Read
Who Takes an Eye for an Eye
David Lagercrantz
I found this overly long with too many convoluted plot turns and side issues. The writing got bogged down and did a lot of telling instead of showing and most of the violent scenes were just frankly unbelievable. I do give high marks to the narration of the audio by Simon Vance who gave his usual great performance.
