Liz Once again, I am challenging myself to read 20 books. I did this in 2017, and have one month left. I might make it to 18, and that’s the most I’ve ever done. Good luck with your challenge. Happy New Year

Wishing you good luck with your goal and happy reading in 2018!

Liz Thanks for the encouragement. My “to read” list is also very very long. I must’ve started it several years ago and just keep adding. With this challenge, hopefully, I will make some headway.

Ah yes, the ever-growing TBR list, I know exactly what you mean. At the moment I think I will need multiple lives to read them all lol

Liz I am on the 2nd in the Kingsbridge series by Ken Follett. Finished Pillars if the Earth, now wading through World Without End. I’ve already purchased the 3rd one, Column of Fire. These 1000 page novels will take some time.

I started reading Pillars of the Earth at some point in 2017, and for some stupid reason put it down. It wasn't that I was not enjoying it - I really was, but somewhere along the way I became frustrated that I couldn't see I was making headway :D lol, like I said, stupid reason to put it down. Hoping to start back up in 2018!

Blagica | 12942 comments Best of luck with your 20 books in 2018 Liz.

Leona (mnleona) | 139 comments I read Pillars of the Earth after watching the series. I also have a couple of his books on my shelf.

message 10: by Liz (new)

Liz Leona... I have more of his books on my shelf also. But, like you, I think I want to do some traveling. That may be a goal this year as well.

Liz Lisa, pick it up again. Credit yourself for pages, not books. Ken Follett is not short on words.

Oh, I do :) Specially with wordy authors like Ken Follett, Stephen King, etc. I admire Follett's verbosity though.I just don't like unfinished things :D Fingers crossed I actually get to it in the new year. For now it's just sitting gathering cyber-dust on my Kindle :D

Liz I am almost to the end of world without end by Ken Follet. He writes very lengthy books, but I like his style. I doubt that I reach my 20 book goal if I keep reading his stuff. 1000 pages apiece.

Blagica | 12942 comments Hoping March is a fantastic month for you Liz!!!!

message 15: by Liz (new)

Liz I am still reading A Column of Fire by Ken Follet. I am nearly halfway through. It is outstanding in historical references. And, just last year I had never read this author.

Liz Have not checked in for awhile. I finished Follett’s series that started with Pillars if the Earth. Read one by Grisham that disappointed me. Bought a bunch of Michener’s, and finally back to Ken Follett (thank goodness). I have started his Century Trilogy with The Fall of Giants. It is riveting from page 1 ! This guy knows how to write.

message 20: by Liz (new)

Liz Wanting to read Michener’s The Source. Has anyone read this?

message 21: by Susy (new)

Susy (susysstories) No, I haven’t read anything by Michener yet...

message 22: by Liz (new)

Liz Thanks for replying Susy. James Michener’s books are historical fiction. I am reading Texas now, and have bought Poland, Alaska, and Mexico.

message 23: by Liz (new)

Liz I am such a slow reader. Still on Follett. Should schedule more time to do what I really like.
