Team Three Circus Ring
Week #1 Option 1 : MC is a nerd/geek/genius

210 pages
How the book qualifies: list Best Gay Romance with Bookish/Nerdy/Geeky Characters
Rating : 3/5
Review :
I liked it alright. Herb is really cute. He's a bit naive and lacks a mouth filter, says everything that's going through his mind, which makes for funny dialogues at times. I appreciated that the geek's not just a computer nerd for once. Herb is a super-smart biochimist (and isn't shy about reminding it to people). My problem with the book is that the relationship between the two main characters developped too fast (especially considering the fact that Herb is still a virgin at the beginning) in my opinion. Also the fact that the scientist Herb works with develop something to make a body invisible is a bit too much. Makes the story irrealistic.
Week # 2 : option 1 unrequited love

Rating: 5 stars
Review:
I loved it! Ian is forced to marry his childhood friend, Sileas (/sheelas/) when she was just 13. This marriage doesn't interest Ian of course and goes away to France for 5 years. When he's back he's in for a surprise. The 13 year old girl transformed into a beautiful woman. He must convince her to become his true wife.
I've wanted to shake sense into Ian more than once in the beginning, luckily he didn't take too long to realise what Sileas is worth. But he took his time stopping thinking with his private parts and beginning thinking with his heart! Sileas won't be easily convinced, and even if she's loved him for as long as she could remember he must prove himself. Smart lass :)
The plot was great, with the clan conflict and all. And I loved the characters, especially Sileas. She is a kind and strong woman, who knows she deserves a man who'll love her for who she is. She just wants the man to be Ian, the love of her life. ;) HEA!!
Week #3
Option #1 : Friends to Lovers

rating 5 stars
review:
I loved it! to maintain peace between two powerful clans, the king chose to impose marriage between them. It is tragic for Graeme Montgomery, who thinks he's going to marry, not only his sworn enemy's daughter, but she also appears to be a simpleton.
Eveline Armstrong is a young and courageous woman whose only chance to escape marrying a monster, a certain Ian McHugh, is to pretend to have become daft after an accident which left her deaf. Learning that she was to marry a Montgomery three years later was a shock, but she's even more shocked when she discovers that she can nearly hear his voice. This is a chance to begin anew. It won't be easy for her.
I admired Eveline for her courage. It must not have been easy for her to pretend to be daft for so long and to have to "listen" (she actually reads on the lips) all the comments that were said about her. I really felt for her. And when she admitted the truth to her new clan it wasn't easier. I still can't believe her family didn't realize she was deaf. Only a few weaks with Graeme and he had it all figured out.
Graeme is very loyal and is a good chieftain. He's very protective of his family. At first he felt only pitty for the girl, but then it transformed into love!
The two are a good match.
Week #4
Option #1 - book title with 'A', 'An', or 'The'

Rating: 5 stars
Review:
I'm really enjoying this series. This is the third book. This time the book is about Duncan, the captain of the guard of the MacDonald clan, who's been in love with his best friend's sister, Moira, for a long time. Years ago they had an affair. But they were discovered and he was sent away to France by the chieftain, Moira's father. The thing is that Moira didn't know that and thought that he left her. Two weeks later she was to marry another chieftain from Ireland.
Now Tearlag, the seer, has 'seen' that Moira was in danger. Duncan has no other choice but to go and save her from no other than her husband.
The two of them are very stubborn and have taken their time to admit that they were still in love with each other. It doesn't help of course that Moira has hidden the fact that her son was Duncan's and the fact that the clan still has a few enemies...

I think it's a fair rating for the book. I liked it, even if I had difficulty getting into the story. I guess I wasn't in the right mood. But once I was into the story I really liked the book, couldn't put it down. Patrick is such a nice guy, and really cute too. It's really sad what happened to him. Hanna's case was really sad too of course. There were times I wanted to cry. I really felt for them. Just one question? what is this obsession for Mac-n-cheese? It's like it's all they ate in the whole book.

Week # 6/ Option 1 - Title starts with 'G'

Rating: 2.5
Review:
I was a bit disappointed in the book. I couldn't stand most of the characters in the story. All they do is lie and manipulate others. So you have these two spaceships send to find a new planet to live on. A lot of questions arose when the second ship comes across the first one. It should have been far far ahead. Why did it decelerate? Turns out they had a fertility problem on the spaceship and decided to attack the second spaceship to kidnap all the young girls, telling them that they had actually saved them from some kind of spaceship problem and that they were the only survivor. Ha! Waverly quickly see through the lies. And really I don't get how they expected the girls to believe it, but ok. Then there is this Anne Mather (the "bad guy" of the story), who is using religion to manipulate people. It really irked me. I thought about trowing the book against a wall, but I am against violent treatment of books. I thought by the end that it would get better, and it did, until the epilogue where Kieran does the exact same thing as Anne Mather. Argh !!

This is exactly the kind of books I love. Pia is so funny and sarcasting I had to laugh a few times. And Dragos, Ooooh, I love these kind of domineering, possessive and protective males. He's the perfect dragon. Pia was blackmailed into going to steal something from Dragos. It could be anything, but she chose to steal a penny! haha. Nevertheless, Dragos is furious. This can't go unpunished. But while searching for her he got more and more intrigued. Who could be this creature who managed to go through all his protections to steal a penny, leaving a note which says "I'm sorry." He hadn't been so surprised in centruries. In fact for the first time, since a long long time, he wasn't bored. Once he found her, he simply could not let her go. she was to be his... *sigh* I loved it.

I had put this book to the side for so long that I didn't know anymore what to expect of it. But in the end I really enjoyed reading it. Anita Blake is a animator, she's paid to rise the dead. She's also known as the executioner, she kills vampire. But when a series of vampire murders happens, Anita is blackmailed into solving the case by no other than Nikoleos, the vampire master of the town. ta-ta-taaaa!
Okay there were moment which were a bit creepy, like the one where Anita is locked up with a wererat who wants to rape her, Eeeeerk, He really gave me the creeps. Nikoleos was a bit on the crazy side, *shivers*. I was really sad when Philip died, I began to like him *snif*. Really, at the end when he is reanimated into a zombie and realized that he was dead and that Anita had to 'let him go' I nearly cried. But all in all I liked it :)
P.S. I find it really ironic that the vampireslayer is called Edward :p
Week 9: Main Character is royal.
