It is time to start the nomination process for the next themed January 15- March 14 group read. First we will nominate a theme. The theme can be a particular tale or myth, a geographical area, a mythical being, a culture, an idea, anything as long as books can be found to match the theme.

Previous group read themes were: Strange Bedfellows,Books that have been nominated for the Mythopoeic Award, Magical Shakespeare,Norse Mythology,
Djinn, Yule-Tide, Faeries, Dragons, Animal Transformations, Unicorns, the Folklore and Mythology of Ireland, the Folklore and Mythology of East Asia, Fairy Tale "Helpers", Folklore and Mythology of First Nations-Native Americans, Trees (Dryads, Enchanted Forests), Water (Mermaids, Selkies).

You have one week, until December 17 to nominate then the poll will go up. The poll will stay open approximately one week. Then we will nominated the books that match the theme.

Because February is Black History or African American Month, I nominate mythology and folk/fairytales of Africa/African Americans/Afro-Caribbeans as a theme!

Rachel | 169 comments I cant believe its time to nominate again! I havent even glanced at the december books. Too many others to finish up.

Lila, love the tie in!

Since feb is also valentines day, ill nominate love potions/spells. Open to better phrasing.

I know it seems early! But with one week to place theme nominations, one week to vote, one week nominate books, then one week to vote we need at least a month to have enough time to get the books!

Elley Murray (elleyotter) I nominate fish in fairy tales/mythology.
Mostly because I did a whole paper on magic fish for a class a few years ago, and it was interesting seeing the stories that feature fish, haha. :)
