Book Nerd Reading Challenge discussion

While this category feels relatively specific, there's actually a lot of ways to play it. You can go nonfiction or fiction. Plus there are a number of different wars that are featured in the book - Revolutionary, Civil, World Wars, Napoleonic, etc. Also, the war doesn't need to be the main feature of the book - time period just needs to be wartime so the book doesn't need to be all soldiers and battles. With all of these options, what books would you suggest for this category?

One book that I enjoyed was At the Water's Edge by Sara Gruen. It's set during WWII but the war is in the background. I think there are updates about what's going on during the war, but it's not a huge part of the story if you're not looking for a "war" book.

Kristin Hannah's Nightingale was set in WW II. It is about those living in an occupied territory. So moving.

I just read that book and LOVED it!

Beneath A Scarlet Sky by Mark Sullivan
Again WWII - story of young Italian Man during the war. It is a great read and a Best seller.
