Jason Oliver | 3047 comments So I just finished Dan Browns new book, the 5th installment of Robert Langdon. (Review to come later) In the course of the book he hits his head and is knocked unconscious. Then it occurred to me that he hits hit head in some manner in all 5 books and is knocked unconscious. Then I thought of Nancy Drew and all the knocks to head she took, (several if I remember correctly) These Heros and Heroines must be suffering from CTE by now, the disease that effects football players form repeated concussions and head trauma. I see Robert Langdon #8 with some serious brain damage. Just some idle thoughts for today

Also, all of a sudden I have seen the phase "Tour de Force" everywhere. It has been used in several books I've read recently along with almost every description of a book I've read (hyperbole). Quite frankly, I think it's unnecessary and already overused. This word is starting to bother me. Again, idle thoughts of the day.

Anita Pomerantz | 9282 comments Ha ha, I love these stream of consciousness (or in this case unconsciousness) thoughts. . .

I do think five knockouts seems a tad excessive. In my entire life, I'm not sure I've ever seen a person actually knocked unconsciousness. Not a once. So five times for one person is a lot.

Some funny and strange observations there! It seems every few years a new catch phrase is introduced and overused. There were quite a few "epic" novels in the past! Somehow I don't consider any book to be a "Tour de Force" though. It makes me suspicious .....
