Once, I attributed my vocabulary growth to reading books, but the modern tendency seems to always use more common words over rare ones. I remember editors meticulously rooting out any rare word in my stuff and replacing it with simpler analogue.. Maybe indeed the words are passé and emojis are superior in description? What goes: rich or plain lingo?
