Caz | 2 comments G'day all from down under Australia :)

I'm Caz (Carole usually when I'm in trouble and haven't figured out how to change my darn name in here yet :p)

I live in Wild West Australia after moving from Scotland when I was a wee lass.. 25 years ago..

I really have no pre meditated ideas on what book I'll pick up next. It's all about what book calls out from the shelf. Although, lately I've had tendencies towards non fictitious historic wartime novels that usually have those heroic sassy heroines that are saturated in feminine awesomeness...

Cakes, cookies or pies?? How does one choose the answer to that?? As long as there is a healthy supply of coffee or tea with a good book I'm happy :)

Lovely to meet you all :)

Amber (silveryrye) | 1 comments Hello! I'm Amber, and I'm from California. My favorite drink depends on the time (and temp) of the day, but I normally prefer tea over everything else. As for the deserts, I prefer pie, but am also very fond of cookies. Its hard to pick a most read author, since I read such a variety, but if we are going by number of works read, it is probably Shakespeare or Jane Austen. If most reread/favorite, it would probably be Charlotte Bronte or Tamora Pierce.
I'm not sure if I forgot to answer something, but I seem to have written a lot, so I'll end this post here. :)

Hello Amber. I feel like Shakespeare is an easy takeover for your most read pile, whether you want it or not. Writing a lot is great, there is just more to inspire people to respond.

Hello! The worst part about a long list is just looking at this ridiculous number and not knowing where to start.

message 262: by Omaid (new)

Omaid ibn Naimet Greetings from Pakistan! I'm very glad to be a part of this group. I'm a student of English literature, but pretty much new to the world of classical literature; However I was always fond of reading, and wasted quite a lot of my time reading whatever book I could lay my hands on, having a limited collection of books to choose from at the local market here. So I've read from paranormal genre to chicklits ^_^. Thankfully I have an Ereader now, so it's very convenient to find books. Hopefully I'll be active in the group reads section. :)

❄Elsa Frost❄ (elsafrost) | 1 comments Hi all! I'm fairly new here.

What is your name or nickname? The name I go by is Elsa.
What is your favorite beverage? Anything with chocolate! ;)
Who is your most read author? My two most read authors happen to be Jules Verne and Beverly Lewis. I've read about... 40 books by Lewis and around 20 by Verne. Now if I could only get myself to list them all on this site...
Cake, cookie or pie? Depends. If it's a vanilla cake versus a chocolate cookie, I'd choose the chocolate cookie. I'm a big chocolate freak. ;)
Where are you from? From the USA!

I hope to meet all of you and have lots of discussions with you all!

Hello and welcome!
Those appear to be some good choices there. I'm scared to admit this, but I've only read one Terry Pratchett book. (I'm working on it, I promise!)

message 276: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (ellie_dp) Thank you.
There is nothing scary in not reading Pratchett:) I fell in love with his stories and humor when I as a child and never got tired of them. Sometimes I really need to read something that will cheer me up, that will make me laugh (especially after a few books about the war or something like that) and I know Pratchett won't disappoint me. Wodehouse too.:)

John Daily | 36 comments Hi! My name is John, and this is me: Pulpit Supply, Nurse, Foodie, Musician, Writer, Bibliophile, Logophile, Philomath, Lover of Life. I am learning to play Classical Guitar and have just finished performing in my first play ("An Adult Evening With Shel Silverstien"). Life is short, so make sure you try the things you're curious about: You might be surprised as to what you can do. :)

I used to be a voracious reader, but technology (Bulletin Board Systems and, later, the Internet) killed that in me. Now I'm fast-approaching 50 and really trying to step away from the keyboard and back into reading things that are more than 140 characters long!

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all. Happy reading!

Oh: I'm not big into sweets of any kind, but tea? Oh, yeah. Definitely Tea.

message 286: by Powder River Rose (last edited Dec 31, 2015 12:18AM) (new)

Powder River Rose (powderriverrose) What is your name or nickname? Rose "Powder River Rose"

I enjoy a cup of tea on occasion, especially when friends visit.

Who is your most read author? According to GR that would be Ted Dekker which is only due to the fact that there are about 20+ books one must read to get through the series....superb writing even if not a genre I am fond of, excellent narration, definitely much too frightening to ever go through something like that again.

Where are you from? The beautiful state of Oregon.

Looking forward to participating in the group.

message 290: by Kari (new)

Kari Hello everyone! Glad I found this group! I need a laid-back atmosphere in which I can discuss the oldies without worrying about the snobbery that can sadly be linked to some classic-lit discussion.

As for me: I love milk and drink a ton of sweet tea (more than I should); I read a healthy dosage of Anne Rice and Jane Austen, among many others; I live in Illinois, and cannot possibly pick between cake, pie and cookies! ;)

Hello! It is so funny to come across people who don't read much fiction. I'd say a third to half of my reading is nonfiction, and I tend not to bring it up because even my reading nerd friends stare at me like I've got ten heads. Welcome.

I'm Lorisa from St. Louis, Missouri. I've recently become a tea fanatic and I'm a recovering Gatorade addict. My most read author is Evelyn Waugh but I've recently been reading Willa Cather and Muriel Spark. My long-term goal is to read/re-read all of the works of George Eliot and Jane Austen. I'm not much of a dessert person, I prefer fruit.
