I hadn't read anything on your special shelf, so I hope I picked some good ones.

1. It's a great time to try something new!: Truly, Madly by Heather Webber is a cute romance/mystery with kooky characters and a touch of supernatural as the heroine can find missing items. Or check out Forged in Fire by Trish McCallan were some SEALS on vacation find their travel plans messed up as a woman claims she dreamed their plane would by hijacked and destroyed.

Truly, Madly (Lucy Valentine, #1) by Heather Webber Forged in Fire (Red-Hot SEALs, #1) by Trish McCallan

2. It's also a great time to start something new that could lead to more new somethings: When the Right One Comes Along by Kate James. Or see what it would be like to be a magical innkeeper who deals with any "weird" issues in a small Texas town in Clean Sweep by Ilona Andrews.

When the Right One Comes Along (San Diego K-9 Unit, #1) by Kate James Clean Sweep (Innkeeper Chronicles, #1) by Ilona Andrews

3. Why not try a brand new release in the new year?: Girl in the Spotlight by Virginia McCullough. Or figure out if Ivy is lazy or gifted in Slouch Witch by Helen Harper.

Girl in the Spotlight by Virginia McCullough Slouch Witch (The Lazy Girl's Guide to Magic, #1) by Helen Harper

4. I bet those recently added titles are what you are looking forward to most in the new year: These both needed to be from your TBR, either Under Pressure by Lori Foster or The Man Who Had Everything by Christine Rimmer.

Under Pressure (Body Armor, #1) by Lori Foster The Man Who Had Everything (Montana Mavericks Striking It Rich, #1) by Christine Rimmer

5. January is the first month of the year: Graceling by Kristine Cashore or see what happens when a good girl goes to Vegas, gets drunk and ends up married to a rock star in Lick by Kylie Scott

Graceling (Graceling Realm, #1) by Kristin Cashore Lick (Stage Dive, #1) by Kylie Scott

6. You may have stayed up late on New Year's Eve and just want a shorter story or book to start off the year: The Bad Boy of Butterfly Harbor by Anna J. Stewart. Or Lumberjack in Love by Penny Watson where city-slicker Ami learns that a slower life can be good when dealing with a lumberjack who is building a treehouse for her sister's kid.

The Bad Boy of Butterfly Harbor (Butterfly Harbor #1) by Anna J. Stewart Lumberjack in Love by Penny Watson

7. The new year is filled with promise and hope: First Love Again by Kristina Knight is a second chance romance which are usually feel-good. Or check out Nina who is re-thinking her engagement while on vacation in the States, but ends up sick and being cared for by alpha Max in The Gamble by Kristen Ashley.

First Love Again by Kristina Knight The Gamble (Colorado Mountain, #1) by Kristen Ashley

8. There seem to be a lot of college football bowl games on t.v. on New Year's Day: I'm stretching this a bit, but the hero does coach his nephew's baseball team in Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie which is one of my all-time favorites. Or check out a college hockey player making The Deal with Hannah to stay eligible to play. The MCs are so great in this story by Elle Kennedy.

Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie The Deal (Off-Campus, #1) by Elle Kennedy
