Beth, glad you enjoyed Confessions of X. That was a favorite from 2016. So good!
Loving Luther and Catching the Wind are both on my TBR.

I had waited about a year for my library to get it and then they did and I was so happy!

That is a really good book!

Definitely one of my top favorite books!

Charles Martin is my fav author, hands down, and i hope to re-read most of his books this year. I started with "When Crickets Cry" and of all the books i read last year that is the one that stands out as a fav. First, for me to re-read says a lot by itself. Because there are far too many great books still waiting to be read, I tend to spend little time rereading. When I do i feel as if i am visiting with an old friend.
"When Crickets Cry" moved me just as much if not more than the first time I read it several years ago. I wonder are there other Charles Martin fans here? I havent seen any of his titles in any lists yet nor seen him referenced. Just curious.

Top reads in no particular order

I've read about 3 books by Charles Martin and my favourite was When Crickets Cry, but I enjoyed the others I read too!

The Making of Pride and Prejudice
Macbeth
The Flames of Rome
Con Job: How Democrats Gave Us Crime, Sanctuary Cities, Abortion Profiteering, and Racial Division
Show Them Jesus: Teaching the Gospel to Kids
The Painter's Daughter
A Note Yet Unsung
Redemption

I loved all of the books in Karen Kingsbury’s Redemption and Firstborn series, even though I gave five stars to only three of them. I’m rather stingy with stars.
I understand that, Alegna. I only gave four stars to each of these books but really loved them too. There were just a couple of things I was unhappy with in both books, which took off a star each.

A girl marries, not long after marriage, her husband and either his parents or her her parents are killed in a carriage accident after the carriage slides on ice going over a bridge, a river is involved anyhow. She gets very depressed and eats a lot of chocolate. A friend who married and went west invites her to come and stay. Reluctantly she agrees and on the train out, meets a doctor who turns up staying near the ranch she's staying at. On the ranch, she gets involved in ranch work and looses weight and gets over her depression and ends up falling in love with the doctor who has some sort of past.
I'm sorry I haven't the details more specific, my memory of it is a bit blurry. It is Christian fiction set in the 1800s or so I think. If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated! TIA
Elizabeth, I'm not sure what book that is, but it sounds interesting. I've put the word out on my general update on GR and will also post it on FB.

Also worth mentioning are:

I have a strong affinity for books that are authentic and deal with difficult topics. I especially love Christian authors who don't shy away from pointing out the good AND the not so good things the church does and how believers (and nonbelievers) respond, both positively and negatively, to those things. I appreciate strong character growth and an original story, or at least an original twist on a concept.
I gave more feedback on each book on my website: https://jayceeweaver.com/2018/01/02/f...

I'm looking forward to getting recommendations for 2018 based on everyone's top reads!
Edited to add - if you can, try to stick to a top 10! I'm terrible at this, so no judgement here if you have to go over! :D
Edited again to add, if you prefer to do it by genre, that's fine, too!
