I think I was the only one who adores this unique movie. It is a great blend of sci-fi / horror and it's a must sea movie for the fans of both these genres.
As for the question, I was hoping "Leviathan Awakes" was going to turn out to be like E.H. but it has no relevance with that subject (just read book 1).
So I'm also open to you kind recommendations.

i thought this movie was the best Sci-fi/Horror since Alien but i make the mistake of re-watching it with my pal a few months ago.
Not only has it horribly dated but the plot is so full of holes and it wasnt how either of us remebered it.
it went from a 9/10 down to a very poor 4 or 5/10.

I mix of religious horror and science fiction is hard. Science fiction demands some level of logic, and the religious horror seemed to circumvent that. Basically, Event Horizon's setting undermine's itself. Despite me not liking that, I still found it an interesting concept.
Actually, check out the movie 'Doom.' Sadly, it isn't a book but it might scratch your itch? The movie is about angel and demons with a science fiction setting that is oddly.... Calvinist?

This sounds like what I'm looking for. Thanks for the recommendation, will check it out :)

I actually enjoyed Doom quite a bit as an action movie. Event Horizon scared the crap out of me, but then again I'm pretty sensitive to horror lol.

I loved Event Horizon. When I first watched it as a kid it did nothing but terrify me, but after re-watching it a few months ago I was able to appreciate the storyline and acting. Leviathan Wakes sounds like a good book though, will add that to my "to read" shelf.

This sounds right up my alley. I've been reading some light books, so something more complex would be a nice change. Thanks for the suggestion!

I believe there is as a mythical "director's cut" of Event Horizon. Minutes of material were cut before it hit the cinema.
For a book similar, why not try "Galactic Lebensraum"."
I could barely handle the edited version, can't imagine how scary the director's cut would be lol. Galactic Lebensraum sounds interesting, nazis in space.

Thanks for the suggestion. Added it to my "to read" list :)

I liked them, although many don't like Gentry Lee's contributions. I thought Garden of Rama, the third book, was the best in the series.

So far I haven't ran into many books that fit into those science fiction/horror/alternate dimension categories. Overall, I guess I just want to read some scary outer space stories!
Thanks in advance :)
