Josh | 1 comments To tired and hot to sleep tonight I thought it would be fun to make a check list of books on S&L reading list. So I can see what I have read and haven't. Since not all of us have been here the whole time or skip months or (gasp) books. I thought I would share with the community so here:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1P...

Take it make it your own and have fun.

Clyde (wishamc) | 572 comments Thanks for compiling the list.
42 of 70 so far for me.

message 4: by Robert (new)

Robert (lostzeppo) | 12 comments 16/70 here (with 4 I want to re-read because it's been a while), I need to start catching up on the picks for this year. Took me three months to finish reading Altered Carbon (even though I enjoyed it).

Dave Packard | 203 comments OK, so not being a Google Docs guy, I did a little copy and paste magic to convert the checklist to Excel (on Dropbox) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6... and Numbers (on Dropbox - zipped) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6...

Have fun!

I've only read seven of these. Awesome, I know what my new reading list is. New plan, right after I finish the books i'm currently on.

I've finished all 70. That's 1 more than Veronica.

I didn't lem Lem ;-)

message 9: by Rod (new)

Rod (terez07) I've read 10/70. Thanks Josh for creating such a useful resource!

message 10: by Ben (new)

Ben Nash | 200 comments Wow. I've got 26. Most from before I even knew of S&L.

I think I'm at 39/70

message 12: by Isaiah (new)

Isaiah | 74 comments 31/70 for me. Your insomnia is far more productive than mine. Thanks!

message 13: by Joanna Chaplin (new)

Joanna Chaplin | 1175 comments I've been deliberately reading the old picks. So I'm 55/70. I've also picked up and lemmed 5.

message 14: by Sky (new)

Sky | 665 comments 20/70, having joined when Altered Carbon was the monthly pick. Another 5 are in the top 100 of my to-read list.

message 15: by AndrewP (new)

AndrewP (andrewca) | 2667 comments 34 out of 70. Average of my ratings is 3.05, which fits perfectly with how I rate books on Goodreads. There have been some great reads and some real dogs, the average being exactly in the middle.

message 16: by Valerie (new)

Valerie | 63 comments I have just finished my list-obsessed need to finish all the S&L books with "The Lies of Locke Lamora." Now I have to get back to finishing all the series that got me started on. I'm gonna need another checklist...

message 17: by Molly (new)

Molly (mollyrichmer) | 148 comments 24/70. I've lemmed 6 and never got around to finishing American Gods. I should really pick that one up again...

message 18: by Joyce (new)

Joyce (eternity21) | 198 comments I've done 41/72 with 5 lems. There are some on the list that I still want to get to. American Gods and Neuromancer in particular. I was a little late in joining there were probably about 10 books before I joined.

message 19: by Chad (new)

Chad (doctorwinters) | 180 comments 30/70

message 20: by Shaina (new)

Shaina (shainaeg) | 166 comments 37/70, not too bad, I did much better with the books read since I discovered S&L (21/30) than with the older picks.

message 21: by Mark (new)

Mark (markmtz) | 2822 comments Hmmm. Only 25/70 for me, split just about evenly before/after discovering the Joy of S&L. I also counted 23 books (print/digital) I own but haven't read yet. Since I still scrounge in used book stores and hangout on the S&L Kindle daily deal thread, my TBR pile is growing exponentially.

message 22: by Kelli (new)

Kelli C (kellimcassell) | 73 comments I've read 25/70 as well. I joined Sword and Laser about 1 1/2 years ago. Since then, I've only missed 1 book (not counting the alt picks). My to-read list is about to grow--I'm going to add all the books I've missed.

Thanks for creating the checklist!

message 23: by terpkristin (new)

terpkristin | 4407 comments Is 70 the total without the alt picks?

Because if I'm counting correctly:
I've read 69

Tried and Lem'd 5 (Downbelow Station, The Dirty Streets of Heaven, Tigana, Watership Down, and Dune)

Outright skipped 6 (Empire State, Blindsight, World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, The Windup Girl, The Forever War, and Memoirs Found in a Bathtub).

message 24: by Phil (new)

Phil | 1454 comments It seems to be 70 when you include the alternate picks, 62 without.

message 25: by terpkristin (new)

terpkristin | 4407 comments Well then I can't count, must have been 59 read, 5 Lem'd, and 6 skipped.

message 26: by Joseph (new)

Joseph | 2433 comments 34 over the years, although almost none as part of the actual monthly picks.

Interesting to see the full list -- I kind of wish I would've been around for Dune and/or The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress.

The old wrap-up episodes are still there and available from the wiki.

http://swordandlaser.wikia.com/wiki/B...

Just click on the title. That's what I've been doing after I finish each old pick. It's not the same, but it's still fun.

Thanks! Unfortunately my to-be-listened podcast list is almost as bad as my to-be-read book list, but I'll have to add these to the mix ...

Jenny (Reading Envy) (readingenvy) | 2898 comments I've read 43, not all necessarily when S&L did. I lemmed six, but not the Lem. It was a good reminder how far back I have been around! Started with del Franco.

message 30: by Ben (last edited Jul 26, 2014 05:04PM) (new)

Ben (bennewton_1) Only 29 for me. I do have unread copies of a lot of others from before I started reading along around Old Man's War and Bridge of Birds though.

message 31: by John (john) (new)

John (john) (dowdykitchenman) | 166 comments 37, 11 of which I think got on my to-read list because of this group. So far!

message 32: by Tina (new)

Tina (javabird) | 765 comments Thanks for the Numbers version! I've only read 33, but I've lemmed a couple - I'm a slow reader so I'm hoping to come back and finish a couple (that I had to return to the library before I could finish ).
