Chris van Wincoop (wincoop) Hi everyone. Best whishes for 2018!

I'm Dutch and currently reading in Swedish to learn the language and because of the great books written by swedish authors.

Time Travel books/movies/TV-series are an old passion of mine. So I will check in here every now and then while discovering Goodreads.

Mvh, Chris

Allan Brewer | 8 comments Hi All,

I'm excited to find this group. I have loved Time Travel since I read Poul Anderson's 'Guardians of Time' many many years ago. And lately I have enjoyed Nathan van Coops' books. I have also just launched my own Time Sci-Fi novel 'Schrödinger's Dog'.

Rick Hello,

New member who recently moved to North Carolina from New Jersey. I'm a long-time science fiction reader, and recently have become more interested in time travel. I love movies like Looper and Primer and am looking for books that explore the intricacies and science of time travel more than the places the characters go.

Cheryl (cherylllr) I agree, iiuc. I'm more interested in the puzzle, rather than the alternate history or adventure. Books like Replay and short stories tend to suit us better, I think, Rick.

I haven't read Replay, but it sounds like Groundhog Day.

Allan Brewer | 8 comments Yes, I think they call that "Hard Science Fiction" as a category now, where the science gets more of the focus, and is not "fantastic" but well reasoned. It needs characters and a storyline as well though.

Cheryl (cherylllr) Replay does use a similar mechanism to Groundhog Day, but for that matter so does 11 Birthdays. It's what the author does with it that makes the difference....

And yes, there have to be characters and a story to carry the idea. But in short stories, the idea, the 'science,' can more readily be the focus, I think.

Unagna | 1 comments Hi, I'm Italian. I'm fascinated by science fiction, I read in Italian and in English to improve the language.

My first approach with time travel comes from Disney comics: since when I was five I read stories about Mickey and Goofy travelling in time thanks to a machine invented by prof. Zapotec and Marlin, working in Topolinia's museum of History, to unveil unsolved mystery from the past.

Hope to have nice time here.

Jessica Edmonds | 3 comments Hey everyone, my name is Jessica. Though I’ve had an account here for ages I’m just now using it. I was never the most avid reader (Trying to make up for it now) but I am a huge time travel fan. I’m not well versed in all the many sub genres of time travel literature but I came here hoping to find some like minded folks and good book recommendations. My favorite time travel book is By His Bootstraps and my least favorite is The Man That Folded Himself. So if you guys know of any good books along those lines I’d love to hear em.

Excited to be a here!

Steven (politicoprof) | 112 comments Hey Jessica! I've never read By His Bootstraps, but loved his The Door Into Summer! And I agree that The Man That Folded Himself was awful! I don't know why people like it!

Books I liked a lot: Hawksbill Station by Silverberg, Forever by Hamill, Child of Time by Silverberg & Asimov, Time and Again by Finney, Kindred by Butler, Lightning by Koontz, 11/22/63 by King, and The Doomsday Book by Willis.

Ron Friedman | 4 comments Hi everyone,

My name is Ron S. Friedman.

My debut Time Travel novel, Typhoon Time, which was released last month by WordFire press, is now an Amazon.ca #1 Best Seller in Time Travel.

A time travel project goes awry when a nuclear submarine goes back to 1938, resulting in Hitler gaining a nuclear weapon.

Typhoon Time is available on most of the usual suspects, including Amazon, Baen Books, Nook, Kobo and iBook.

I also published 14 short stories.

Looking forward to connect with readers, reviewers and interesting people in this forum.

Ron

Jessica Edmonds | 3 comments Thanks, Steven! Added them all to my list! By His Bootstraps is by Robert A. Heinlein. I love the perfect causal loops in it, I really recommend it. And as far as The Man The Folded Himself, I truly don’t understand why it’s even classified as a time travel book. It’s more of a mulitiverse book and a lousy one at that. I don’t know why it’s always recommend.

But it’s good to meet you, thanks for the recommendations!

David (david_poole) | 4 comments Joined this group a little while ago but never introduced myself on this thread, so I figured I would go ahead and do that today.

I have loved time travel books/movies/tv shows for as long as I can remember. It was probably 'Back to the Future' that first got me hooked in the 80s.

My favorites books of the genre are Replay, The Time Traveler's Wife, and 11/22/63. This year I have also greatly enjoyed the first three books in Shawn Inmon's Middle Falls Time Travel series. I also have a 'time travel' bookshelf here on Goodreads that contains 30+ time travel related books that I'd still like to read eventually.

Would love any recommendations or friend requests from any users on here with similar tastes!

Rene Bard (reneeldabard) | 4 comments Hi, All,

I love to read, and I look forward to discovering new time travel books from this group.

First, I must inform you that I've come from the future to give you this message: "You're still hangin' in there last time I saw you...and your daughters, sons, nephews, and neices are doing fine, too. (Although one or two of them were asking me for money - right in the dang coffee shop! I gave 'em a buck or two cuz I could see they had joie de vivre.)"

Also, I'm an author who's published And Poe Said a complex novel of historical fiction with a bit of time travel thrown into the mix — at least, early readers have called it time travel and, you know what they say, the reader is always right.

Thanks for having me ... peace to all.

Kavya Janani U. (kavyajanani) | 2 comments Hi, friends,

I am Kavya Janani from India. I am new here. I am a time-travel addict and I would like to get to know about some wonderful time-travel books. I have two books published under my name. My first is '21 Pearls', a collection of multi-genre short stories and my second is the time-travel short story Somewhere In A Song (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...)

I would like to get some reviews and constructive feedback for the latter. Here's the link: https://www.amazon.in/dp/B07B8GQPDR/

I have written a full-fledged romance novel which is in the hands of a literary agent. I have plans to write two time-travel romances in the future.
