When Earth intercepts a message from a long-extinct alien race, it seems like the solution the planet has been waiting for. The Undying's advanced technology has the potential to undo environmental damage and turn lives around, and Gaia, their former home planet, is a treasure trove waiting to be uncovered.

For Jules Addison and his fellow scholars, the discovery of an alien culture offers unprecedented opportunity for study... as long as scavengers like Amelia Radcliffe don't loot everything first. Mia and Jules' different reasons for smuggling themselves onto Gaia put them immediately at odds, but after escaping a dangerous confrontation with other scavvers, they form a fragile alliance.

In order to penetrate the Undying temple and reach the tech and information hidden within, the two must decode the ancient race's secrets and survive their traps. But the more they learn about the Undying, the more their presence in the temple seems to be part of a grand design that could spell the end of the human race...

Today is the day to start. I can't wait. :) But I'm finishing a book before starting this one, so I'll start with Unearthed a few days later.

Chapters 1-3: (view spoiler)[ I already love Jules. He's just so innocent seeming. I want to know why he's really there and just who his father is. Still trying to get a read on Amelia and also why she's there. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 4: (view spoiler)[ well they made it to the temple Jules was looking for. I'm a little worried as to what awaits inside for them and at some point Jules is going to have to tell the truth. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 5-6: (view spoiler)[ well Mia figured out who Jules is. But now they're at a point where they can't exactly leave each other. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 7-9: (view spoiler)[ so I'm liking it but not loving it. The characters aren't really clicking for me. Jules is cute in a naive sort of way and I feel bad for him. Then there's Mia who...idk.. hopefully is smarter than these plans she keeps thinking up. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 10-13: (view spoiler)[ so I don't know if I would be able to just jump through a portal that appeared after a bunch of alien tests lol. But I guess it's better than being shot. How the hell is Liz and her crew getting through without bringing the temple down? That part just doesn't really make sense. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 14-18: (view spoiler)[ huh well I didn't see that coming. Charlotte and Mink are the same person. What exactly is going on here? (hide spoiler)]

Finished: (view spoiler)[ ok I did not expect that ending! Talk about nail biter. Also shows how far greed goes. Thanks the the greed of earth it's now about to be taken over by aliens. With only two kids in their way. Oh man (hide spoiler)]

I'm really loving these two POVs. And I really enjoyed this first interaction between Amelia and Jules. I didn't read much about this book or saw any reviews, but I'm really enjoying it. It started really well.

I'm loving the interaction between Amelia and Jules. They finally arrived at the temple and can't wait to know what's inside. I just think those scavengers won't give up chasing them so easy.

I'm totally loving this book! The interactions between Jules and Amelia are amazing! The sexual tension is palpable.



And now she knows who he is. Interesting. And the first challenge as very nice! Let's see what will happen next.

Wow! This was so intense. I don't like Jules thinking that Amelia betrayed him, but I think that's the way it is. And then his quick thinking and the ceiling falling over that guy... Well, let's see how things will go from now on.

What makes me really mad in this book are the bad guys. And not in a good way. Amelia and Jules go to hell and back to solve puzzles, to cover their tracks, and magically the bad guys always almost find them. Come on!

And now they're on this frozen part of the planet, where there's NO SIGNAL and magically the IA appears, within a few hours, with several ships out of nowhere?

Let's think about the possibility that they've put a tracker on Jules. Okay. That's possible. But they've entered that portal and ended up thousands of miles away, in a zone where there's NO FRICKING SIGNAL! If they had a tracker on Jules, they would pick up that he suddenly disappeared on the temple, but not where he appeared, I think.

I don't know. They'll eventually explain this, but for me the circumstances seem desperate just for the protagonists. The other characters are doing just fine, just for plot's sake.



I also have this crazy idea that the Undying are really the humans way into the future, and that they did all this to prevent their impending ending. Only worthy people will make it to the end, to change the fate of humanity. I don't know, but that would be really nice.

I KNEW IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank God I have what I wrote before to prove that! They are humans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my God! This was so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



I discovered half the plot twist, that the Undying were probably human. But I thought they were trying to warn humanity, like, from the future, not to make the same mistakes. I didn't know the ship and all the trials were actually a trap, a Trojan Horse for them to take Earth.

Well, at least some of them tried to warn Earth before that happens. I can't wait for the second book!

They both just feel so young and every time they mention the multi tool I get images of Data saving the day and the Fratellis chasing through the caves. Mia and Jules do seem to balance each other the way those kids did too. (hide spoiler)]
