Awesome! :) He's an interesting character from what I recall. It's been awhile since I read the first one.

Jenny | 2346 comments Ok, I looked through my shelves and found a few more that will be easy to finish. I found a Nancy Drew book with bagpipes on the cover for #44, an illustrated edition of Alice's adventures with heart cards on the cover for #53, and a book with an orange cover for #47.
I am on track to finish ten or more additional books (probably more) by the end of the month.

Think we'll get to the bonus round?

I hope we can get to the bonus round, but I have a feeling those two look-a-like books might be the death of us... :(

hah Good Luck! That's how I felt once I found a couple with that blue dressed girl but enthusiasm in searching dwindled slightly when I realized they were still too different to count. :/

Jenny | 2346 comments Don't know if this will work, but how about these-
Vermeer by Roberta D'Adda Girl with a Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier

I have the Vermeer art book, and I can get the pearl earring one.

message 1008: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Found a couple more that don't look bad. Does one person have to read both, or can we split this task up between two of us?

A Blue So Dark by Holly Schindler Rain Village by Carolyn Turgeon

And, these next two seem like they may be OK, but the kindle edition of Mockingbird is different from the paperback, which matches, so...?
Long Drive Home by Will Allison Mockingbird by Kathryn Erskine

message 1009: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments I'm willing to take the double book thing on, alone or with someone else, but I need the captains please to let me know which of these if any will work. Thank you in advance.

Looks promising, I'll run it by the mods...

Kirsten (kielianne) | 265 comments Jenny,

The look-a-like tasks, just like all the others, can be completed by a single person or more than one.
The other two sets also look good too but I worry about the one where the edition actually being read (e.g. the kindle edition) wouldn't have the cover we are using to match...
EDIT: I see there is however an "ebook" edition that does also have the matching cover... https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7...

message 1012: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Cool. I will wait for the mod ruling. If anyone wants to split this one with me, let me know.

The Girl w/ the Pearl Earring & it's "twin" got approved. Just realized that was the only one I asked about, sorry. I think both of the others would work as long as the editions you were able to find & read, were these same covers...

Jenny | 2346 comments Here is the list of books that I am confident I will finish this month. I am listing the tasks the I know they will cover, but there will be options for most of them beyond what I am aware of right now.

#41- Vermeer by Roberta D'Adda , #42- Girl with a Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier , #47- Priceless by Mariah Stewart , #64- Gods, Monsters, and the Lucky Peach by Kelly Robson , #23- Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman! Jenny | 2346 comments The books I have read so far have also covered (but were not used for) #s 1,4,7,16,22,23,24,26,37,45,61and 67. So, with a little shuffling, if we read enough, we may get this challenge done. I am holding out hope.

message 1033: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Captains, a question-
I was looking for short books to fill some tasks, and I realized I have the audio for "Cricket on the Hearth" by Charles Dickens in my audio library. The audio is three and a half hours long, but the default book lists the page count at eighty- something. There is another paperback lower down the list that is at 120- something pages. Will this work if I listen to the audio for #14?

message 1034: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments How many books can I listen to at work and read at home in a week? We'll see, but I found a few more that will work for tasks.
#48- Just One Damned Thing After Another (The Chronicles of St Mary's, #1) by Jodi Taylor , #34- A Symphony of Echoes (The Chronicles of St Mary's, #2) by Jodi Taylor , #24- Driving Mr. Dead (Half-Moon Hollow, #1.5) by Molly Harper , and maybe (see above) #14- The Cricket on the Hearth by Charles Dickens

The race is on.
