I definitely recommend it. It is not depressing at all if that is your concern.

Thanks Dawn - that would be a concern for me. I can see it's one of those books I'll need to be in the right frame of mind for. I'd want to read it with a certain amount of reverence, but I often get quite emotionally involved and would need 'space' to do it justice.

I've put it on my tbr list to read though.

There were some things about the book that really annoyed me, but it was interesting enough to keep me going until the end. I hope you enjoy it more.

I hope you enjoy it more. In some ways it reminded me of Stephen King's It, and that is a tough act to follow.

A friend made that comparason with It - that's what pushed me to get the book. I'm kinda glad you didn't love it - that sounds really mean doesn't it!! There is very little as disappointing as an over hyped book that lets you down 😉

I did. Both were 5 star reads for me. With this one, I completely had no idea what had happened, whereas with The Dry, I had a theory, which turned out to be wrong😀😀 There is a really dark, almost suffocating atmosphere in this one.

They were both five star reads for me too. I never figured out what was happening in the first book until she hit me over the head with it. I agree about the darkness in the second too! I am always shocked at how people act in stories.
