5/5 stars : Super hilarious

Book 4/12 The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad by Twinkle Khanna

5/5 : Collection of mini stories which were all very good

Blagica | 12941 comments A book is a dream that you hold in your hand. I hope that April brings you many more five star reads.

message 23: by Harshmi (new)

Harshmi | 119 comments Book 5/12 Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter

4.5/5 : I'd heard so many good reviews for Karin Slaughter's books that I decided to try this one. Whoa what a thriller! A whole lotta deception and gore, this book is about finding closure for a sister/daughter the family lost and uncovering dark secrets about the person you think you know.

Harshmi | 119 comments Book 6/12 The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman

5/5 : Decided to read this with my April TBR Twin. Wow, third Neil Gaiman book I've read and he's becoming my new favorite author. I've seen his works before i.e. the two Doctor Who episodes he wrote and they are some of my favorite episodes in the entire series. This book was simply magical, sometimes frightening but all in all a very compelling read.

Harshmi | 119 comments Book 7/12 Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty

4/5 : Even though I couldn't relate to parent drama since I am not a parent, the book was a fast pace read with a mystery that kept me on edge. I did not see the twist coming and the whole book was beautifully written.

Harshmi | 119 comments Book 8/12 Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng

4/5 : Wonderful writing and a slow character driven book. Even with the slow pace it had me hooked.

message 30: by Blagica , Challenges (new)

Blagica | 12941 comments I have heard so many different things about that book. I hope you enjoy your June in books.

Harshmi | 119 comments Blagica wrote: "Awesome job so far! Do you have a favorite book or a book you still can't wait to read?"

Thank you Blagica! Wow, that's hard to choose. The way I read is , I'll only finish a book if I'm really into it which is why all my read books have a 3.5+ rating. That said, I think this year I'm more into reading Neil Gaiman's works. I'm currently reading Stardust and I loved the movie when I saw it few months ago.

How's your year going so far? Any favorite books or something you really want to read? Or any recommendations?

message 35: by Harshmi (new)

Harshmi | 119 comments Book 10/12 Stardust by Neil Gaiman

4/5 : I just really love Neil Gaiman's writing. Since I'd already seen the movie its 4 star for me.

Harshmi | 119 comments Book 11/15 The Windfall by Diksha Basu

3/5: Nicely written and gives a realistic view into Indian society. Being an Indian myself, I totally related with the story. However, being an Indian I also felt in some ways there wasn't anything fresh in the story so most parts weren't as funny to me. However, the ending wasn't very Bollywood-y , in fact it was realistic which was good.

Harshmi | 119 comments Book 12/15 The Murder of Roger Ackroyd (Hercule Poirot #4) by Agatha Christie

5/5: Searched for the best mystery book to read and found this, it truly didn't disappoint!

Blagica | 12941 comments You are on your way to having a great year in books! Do you have a book you still can't wait to read?

message 42: by Harshmi (new)

Harshmi | 119 comments Book 14/15 The Palace of Illusions by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni

4/5 : Historical fiction and a retelling of the Indian epic Mahabharata from the POV of Draupadi who is the most important female character. It was interesting to read from her POV rather than the general 3rd person POV I've grown up with. How much of it is fact / fiction is another debate.

"Read" the audiobook. Utterly spell-binding. I thought since its October and also one of the buddy reads, its a perfect time to get in on this.
