Caroline (caro7) Only when one is much better than the other. In that case, I end up favoring that one and making little to no progress on the other.

Sam (olivedxn) | 105 comments Absolutely! I don't like reading more than one book at once. It's confusing. For a while I tried it out but it's not for me.

message 103: by Drakeryn (new)

Drakeryn | 36 comments It's not exactly "difficult," just not something I usually do. If I'm enjoying a book, I generally binge-read until it's done. If I start reading a second book, it's usually because the first isn't holding my attention, or I'm in a reading slump.

Rachel Adiyah | 88 comments I usually read several books at once. I started doing it for a reading challenge and it just became my regular method of reading.

mysticofworlds | 668 comments It feels weird if I don't read several books at once, usually it's anywhere from 2-5 at a time

same

message 107: by Cendaquenta (new)

Cendaquenta I don't have trouble reading multiple books, in the sense of getting plots mixed up etc., but I do tend to not be able to give the same attention to both books - I'll end up spending the day reading a huge chunk of one while barely picking up the other, even if I'm enjoying them both.

I do the same thing.

Claire Binkley (httpstinyurlcom2st2znpe) | 5 comments Why would it be difficult to read more than one book at a time? What works best for me is if it's different languages/formats like audiobook and ebook and paperback or if it's in Russian or Japanese or something.

María Estrada (drmariajestrada) | 1 comments I am reading or listening to six books right now. I will review all of them. I also review one author friends’ work each month on my Facebook group Penned in the City and pimp and promote that book for the month.

Tyler Gray (wickedjr89) I don't think i'd have an issue keeping them separate but i'm not a fast reader and it'd drive me up a wall to try to read multiple books at the same time. I've tried it and it makes me feel like i'm moving at a snail's pace in all of them. I can do it but I prefer just one at a time. Getting into one story and enjoying that to it's fullest and then moving onto the next story.

Edit: The moving so slow reading multiple books just means I can't enjoy any of them as much as i'd like to, as much as I would be if I focus on just one.

message 112: by Betsy (new)

Betsy I like to have at least one hardcover/paperback book, and one or two on my Kindle at the same time.

Kind of the same way for me.

message 114: by myfortressofbooks (new)

myfortressofbooks | 18 comments I actually just go with what I feel - sometimes it's hard to put a book down because it's so good and so I don't. I only concentrate on that one but other times if the pace is dragging or the world building is a lot to take in, I like to take a break in between to read something lighter...

message 115: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Cart (mountainmama198) There are times in my life that I am paced and can read more than one book, but like it was said in the group, it does diminish your enthusiasm for one book somewhat. I read Handmaids Tale by Margaret Atwood ( after the series seen) and also read Birds of a Lesser Paradise at the same time. For me, one dark tale was offset by a lighter short story collection.

message 116: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn Kowalski | 1 comments to me i just read books one at a time because i will read by that i really want to read but i also want to finish the book that i am reading right now. its rare for me to read two books at the same time but i will still read them one by one. that's just me.

message 117: by Elina (new)

In terms of ability to distinguish each story, no. Unless I take a large break while in the middle of a book, I probably won't confuse the stories. In terms of timing, yes. Reading through and finishing more than 1 book around the same time is more challenging, as I usually end up involving myself with one book over the other, and at that point I'm just reading one before the other. I will read 2 books simultaneaously, although my current dilemma is addind a 3rd book so I can participate in my groups monthly read. With my work schedule right now, not sure I can handle it.

message 120: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie I love to read more than one at a time.

message 121: by MarilynW (new)

MarilynW (huecotx) Whether I'm reading 3 books a week or 1 book a week, I like to read only 1 book at a time.

Beagle Lover (Avid Reader) (beaglelover55) | 166 comments No problem for me. Reading 3 concurrently at present.

message 124: by Isabel ♡ (new)

Isabel ♡ (dinioskol) | 44 comments I don't find it difficult to read more than one book at a time, but I don't like doing it at all. It gets annoying, because you're reading different books set in different worlds with different characters and different plots. And I need to finish a series before starting a new one, that's why I don't really like reading ongoing series, since I have to wait for the next books to come out and I can't read anything else before they do.

message 125: by Pam (new)

Pam Carmichael | 154 comments I have always read three at a time, just love it and no I don't get confused at all because they are all different kinds of books.

Melanie (aka DarkBeauty73) (darkbeauty73) I barely mange to get one book read at a time let alone reading two, lol

message 127: by Anastasia (new)

Anastasia | 8 comments I sometimes will find myself reading more than one book at a time. I will read a physical book and then read a Kindle book. I often times list all the books I want to read during any given season or month o my Goodreads and then just start with the first book and work my way down.

Cindy (Romance addict) | 67 comments Not so long as they are from different genres.

message 129: by Jennifer ✨ (new)

Jennifer ✨ I can when I want to...may be difficult sometimes lol

message 130: by [deleted user] (new)

I usually read a phisical book at home, an e-book at work (I work in a book store, so I usually have a lot of free time hahaha) and I listen to an audiobook when I drive... so, yes, I read at least three books at a time!

Melanie (aka DarkBeauty73) (darkbeauty73) I barely manage to get one book read let alone have multiple books going at one time

Janett (sweetwaterspice) | 56 comments I'm actually testing this out for the first time!!! Reading 3 at a time! 😃😃😃

message 134: by Cat (new)

Cat Carstairs | 152 comments Usually I don't read more than one book at a time, but my devotional doesn't count ;)

message 135: by Chris (new)

Chris Gager (chrisinmaine) | 62 comments I usually have at least two going.

message 136: by Dr. Rida (new)

Dr. Rida (ridaimran) yep I've tried with 2 books of different formats and genres and was still confused between which events took place in which book.. so i think people that can do this are super talented

message 137: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 60 comments I used to find this odd, but not anymore. Usually, I just read one book at a time, but I had four this week!
An audiobook I started a while ago (it's 5 books in 1, though), an ebook I started and wasn't really enjoying, so I started another one + a book that was just published this week that I'd been looking forward to getting (and that I've prioritised and just finished).
They are all very different so it's not hard to keep them separate in my mind & not get characters/events mixed up.

message 138: by MidnightBunny (new)

MidnightBunny Sometimes I think a book is getting boring, so I switch to a different one, and even then, I usually have two or more started.
