Nancy H | 1111 comments Hi Fran,
I just finished On a Wicked Dawn On a Wicked Dawn (Cynster, #9) by Stephanie Laurens , and it was good. I had forgotten how good an old-fashioned, historical romance can be, and this one has been sitting on my shelves for a long time, so I was happy to get to it.
There are more good ones on the list that I am hoping to read this month.
Thank you!

Unfortunately, it wasn't really my cup of tea. But thanks for the push to finally try this series! I don't know, maybe I just read it at the wrong time, I seem to dislike every book I read at the moment. Maybe I will read #2 in the future, let's see :-)

Courtney | 328 comments ☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ wrote: "Courtney here are picks for you. Hope you find some great books to read.

1. 🎂 George Washington was the first President of the United States.
TBR: The Duchess Deal."

Hey, Carmen. Don't worry. I didn't back out on my homework assignment/punishment. (Punishment because the southern baptist part of me can't stand that I LOVE these books so much).

ALREADY READ:

1. NEW: The Unsung Hero by Susanne Brockman

The book started off kind of awkward but kept my interest enough with terrorist plots and intense love scenes. There is also an emotional speech Kelly gives halfway through that touched my heart deeply. There are many tender moments throughout, that made it a decent read.

Ended predictably, but not a bad overall. Ambitious in its use of multi-layered relationships and flashbacks (though I did have to keep myself from blushing each time the bookcover popped up on my Kindle The Unsung Hero (Troubleshooters, #1) by Suzanne Brockmann .)

RATING: 2 & 1/2 Stars

2. TBR: Royally Raised by Emma Chase.

Royally Raised (Royally, #2.5) by Emma Chase Lol. Didn't realize it was only 36 pages, but right away I fell in love with the characters and the dialogue. I even remember highlighting a couple of the quotes.

RATING: 3 Stars

3. NEW: Room for You by Beth Ehemann

Room for You (Cranberry Inn, #1) by Beth Ehemann Oh my goodness! This book was just so SWEET. I was crying. The first love scene did seem quite abrupt, but the characters (especially the supporting characters) have the perfect balance of realism and quirkiness to make this gem come alive (it also helped that the audio book was free of charge). Just when you think the book is about to hit a lull, they throw in something to catch your attention. Loved every moment of it. Maybe some of the lines were cheesy. I don't know, but I fell for them, and me and Kacie fell for Brody.

RATING: 4 Stars

4. NEW: High-Risk Fever by Emily Bronsen.

High-Risk Fever by Lea Bronsen Short on plot and believable character development, I am ashamed to admit that this book somehow wrestled me into submission with Mr. Michaela's sensual aggressiveness, putting myself and the protagonist Anne in positions we weren't expecting. I would feel like I was disappointing him if I gave him a poorer.

RATING: 4 Stars

5. NEW: The Billionaire Wins the Game

The Billionaire Wins the Game (Billionaire Bachelors, #1) by Melody Anne , I guess this one didn't click for me. There was an awful lot of cliche dialogue and it just didn't seem to go anywhere. Maybe there is something hidden under the surface I was missing, but all in all, this one just didn't register with me.

RATING: 1 & 1/2 Stars

6. TBR: The Duchess Deal

The Duchess Deal (Girl Meets Duke, #1) by Tessa Dare I am going to go ahead and move this to the "read" list because there is no doubt in my mind I am going to finish this book. Emma and the Duke will have you laughing from start to finish while managing to squeeze in a fear tears and a lot of swooning.

RATING: 5 Stars

7. NEW: Marcus
Marcus (Hell Squad, #1) by Anna Hackett (audiobook) Never read a science fiction romance, but the action is rising nicely along with the sexual tension. The end of chapter 9 and the start of Chapter 10. OH. MY. GOODNESS, Carmen! If I had an inner goddess, she would have been screaming. Yes, it started off with a lower rating because I tend to like clever dialogue with flowery language. However, that obviously would not fit the dark tone of this piece. It's intense in more ways than one. Thanks so much for this pick!

Rating: 4 Stars

CURRENTLY READING:

8. TBR: Cold-Hearted Rake

Cold-Hearted Rake (The Ravenels, #1) by Lisa Kleypas Not very far in the book, but it's 3 to 4-star material so far.

9. NEW: Cuffed
Cuffed (Everyday Heroes, #1) by K. Bromberg (audiobook)

One-third of the way through, and it's interesting and humorous game of one-upsmanship going on between Emerson and the love interest. There are some emotional twists to this one that give it an added dimension. So far, it's hanging on to a 3 & 1/2 star rating.

10. Year One by Nora Roberts
Year One (Chronicles of The One, #1) by Nora Roberts

I'm moving along in this one. The writing is good, as expected, but I'm a tad confused. It has a 3 star rating as of now.

11. The Hating Game by Sally Thorne

The Hating Game by Sally Thorne Very clever book with good dialogue. The interactions between Joshua and "Shortcake" are the best. Like Seinfield versus Newman (except with sexual tension inserted). Four stars so far.

12. Falling For A Stranger
Falling For A Stranger (Callaways, #3) by Barbara Freethy I didn't think I would find this one interesting at first, but it started off with soothing feeling to it, with a dash of mystery. Interested to see how it develops. No rating so far.

Hey Miss KarenH!
This month wasn't as productive for PIFM as I'd hoped, mostly cuz I waited all month for a couple of the books you recommended and I've just now gotten them! (Not an excuse, I know, but I'll definitely be reading them in March!)
I've gotten through 3 so far:
Fly With Me (Wild Aces, #1) by Chanel Cleeton , Christmas Nights (Diamond Creek, Alaska #6) by J.H. Croix , Managed (VIP, #2) by Kristen Callihan

Working on Cold-Hearted Rake (The Ravenels, #1) by Lisa Kleypas now, with Hard as It Gets (Hard Ink, #1) by Laura Kaye next. I also got Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake (Love By Numbers, #1) by Sarah MacLean , Saint's Gate (Sharpe & Donovan, #1) by Carla Neggers Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty , From Sand and Ash by Amy Harmon and Exclusively Yours (Kowalski Family, #1) by Shannon Stacey all on deck... I'm so behind! Hoping for 5 this month though.... :)
