The Best Bad Luck I Ever Had

Summer Ball by Mike Lupica

Some of you have heard me discuss my three illiterate children, although there does seem to be some slight wisps of hope emerging from each in different ways. I have told the older boys when they finish a book they need to write a review. I must say, the kids ability to orate what the book meant to him was far more beautiful than what you will see below. he actually said he was moved by both books and that they both teach him that whatever the problem is, you just have to believe in yourself and you can be resilient. So there's hope. Here are his reviews: (by SJF, age 12.7.

These 2 book have things that I am very passionate about in the best bad luck I ever had dit is in a relationship with a colored girl when he is taught blacks are not good people but a really important thing to me is at the end when they say goodbye it showed me that everybody is equal no matter who and to be honest i was moved

In summer ball, danny is not just knocked down he gets back up for example when he gets to camp he is told he is playing with 11-12 year olds he should be with 13-14 kids and when he plays bad he steps up and proves that size doesn't matter it is about heart and i think these 2 book s were really good and i was moved after both

When my nephew was about this age, I also gave him a couple of Lupica books. He really enjoyed them.

You clearly have a big heart- your reaction to The Best Bad Luck made me smile. And want to read both books!
Thank you, and keep reading so we can see more of your reviews!

annapi | 5505 comments Very good! I once had my son give me a review which I posted on Amazon, using my account and prefacing it with the info that my 12-year-old wrote the review. It was my incentive for him to read and review the book, and he was quite thrilled to see his words on Amazon.

Karin | 9218 comments I love it!

But, annapi, my son would never do anything in order to see his words in print, he hates writing that much! But what a great idea; I wonder if it would have motivated on of my daughters (maybe not, but I still like the idea and wish I'd tried it when they were younger).
