These are the only ones I have left to find. I'm pretty sure I won't find the slang. BTW, WHAT IS A WEEZER???
Elf
Johanna
Nite
Pimpin'
Rollin'
Sandman
Thang
Tonight's
Weezer
Year's
Johanna
Pimpin'
Sandman
Thang
I have no idea.
Okay...I'm pretty much in the same boat, Karen, and I know you and Denise always finish these pretty quickly.
Let me to some searching around and come up with alternatives.
"Thang" might be found at some point in a Southern Chick Lit book, but it could take forever to run across it. Elf is probably found in a Christmas Romance novel or novella.
Tonight's and Year's we should be able to find.
I'll do some checking and let you know what I find for the slang.

I can find "pimping" in an Eve Dallas book, but not abbreviated.
Thanks for the feedback, Denise and Teri-K.
Next round won't be this difficult, I promise. I honestly thought pimpin, nuthin' and walkin' would be easier to find than they have been.

No, it's ok!! I didn't mean to start anything. I love your games! More than anything, I just wanted a shorter list to look at rather than scrolling through the posts.
And ... does anybody know what a 'Weezer' is?? Or the song it comes from??
And ... does anybody know what a 'Weezer' is?? Or the song it comes from??
Actually...you all, I screwed up with Weezer. I'm working with song titles, and the song title is Buddy Holly and the GROUP is Weezer.
This one's on me...so we'll just disregard Weezer all together.
You didn't start anything, Karen, I promise. I just think I didn't pay enough attention when I put this one together.
I'm so glad you like these challenges!
I have to admit, I like this one, but it's a pain in my backside in getting it done. Lol.

Okay - let's do this for the slang words...I'll take the regular form of the word (so for thang, thing would work; for nuthin', nothing would work, etc.
If you want to continue looking for the slang, that's fine too. This will just make it a bit easier.
I'll make the notations at the top in post #1.

I was just throwing my list into the discussion. I like having some really tricky words, and I don't mind not getting them all. If it's too easy it's no challenge and you don't get that rush when you find a hard word - like when I was reading along and saw "thang". That shocked me. :) I keep hoping for some kid to say "Nite, nite." But it hasn't happened yet. lol
I really appreciate the feedback, TeriK. It helps out a lot.
And I know what you mean about finding a word unexpectedly. That happened with me for hammersmith. That word just came out of nowhere!

Hammersmith - oh yes. I wasn't even trying for that one when I was reading about an author's books for another challenge and that word came up as a character's last name. Shock and delight! And I got two tough challenge tasks with one book. :)

And I know what you mean about finding a word unexpectedly. That happened with me for hammersmith. That word just came out of nowhere!"
Hammersmith...the elusive hammersmith. :)

Elizabeth Peters refers to the "Ur text" in at least one of her Amelia Peabody books. If you read them.

I found it in a text message that was included in a book. He used ur for your.
Thank you, ladies!
I do read the Amelia Peabody series, so I'll start there first.
I thought I would run across it in dialogue somewhere, but so far I haven't. I know I've seen it before though, so that's why I wasn't overly concerned when I put it on the list.
It will come around, or I'll hunt it down :)

That's a good place to look for it.
I'll probably lurk back through the thread to find books to read for the words I'm missing.
Am I the only one that does that?
The lengths I'll go to in order to complete a challenge...I have no shame!

Am I the only one that does that? ..."
I cannot tell a lie -no, you're not the only one. Thus I squealed "Oh, I haven't read that 87th Precinct book yet!" haha (Message 57)

I cannot tell a lie -no, you're not the only one..."
lol glad to help
I can't say I've ever read a book to find a word because I'm so focused on getting through my physical books since I have no room for all of them lol. However, if I noticed one that someone read that I DO have I'd read it.
I found "ur" in a history book.
