This is where I first encountered June Brown (she makes her appearance at 2:00 in) as Lady Eleanor. Somehow, she looked rather old even then (1973)

Blimey, even she has been on Doctor Who! That episode is before my time though, by one year. She was almost my age back then!

Incidentally, the tall guy in the background, Hal the archer, is played by Jeremy Bulloch; he would later play Boba Fett in Star Wars (although a different actor voiced the character).

He also worked as producer for Dead Can Dance singer Lisa Gerrard (the pair also doing several live albums together) and Alphaville.

Ric may be best remembered however for playing doomed drummer Mick Shrimpton in 'This Is Spinal Tap'

While Krautrock and electronica don't float my boat, the guy had an amazing career and influence. Enjoyed what i heard on Stomu Ymashta's "Go" album, way back, now somewhere on cassette tape. Only 1 album recorded with Tangerine Dream, who i do like, occasionally.

Sad, only 74. I confess i was never a big fan and wouldn't call him a great actor but warmed to him in the early New Tricks because he didn't take himself too seriously and there was a kind of chemistry between him, Alun Armstrong and James Bolam (both much better actors IMO). I think some George Cole rubbed off on him - no bad thing. Famous for marriage to Rula Lenska of Rock Follies fame, also for writing and singing a few theme songs (very average).

He'll always be George Carter for me. Not seen either of the films Val mentions (disgraceful!), but I do have an old Hammer film 'Pirates of Blood River', in which he appears for a few minutes. It's from 1962, so he was only 14 at the time.

Love his soundtrack on Blade Runner (original) - inspired

Awww. Love his work on Yes "Yessongs" (live) ,"Relayer" and Terry Reid's "River" - heard him interviewed on a recent BBC4 Yes documentary and he seemed like a nice down to eart guy. Hell of a drum seat to fill - Bill Bruford !

Yeh, Fungus was my favourite too.

We have his most recent, and I guess now last book 'Time For Lights Out', ruminating on old age, it's quite brilliant.

Seems extraordinary to me, that just 2 days ago, Her Majesty was able to appoint her 15th and final Prime minister. She did look frail, but clearly hid the truth of her health, right to the very end. And now, is it just me, or does the notion of a new King 'Charles' III seem surreal, given the history? I thought he was going to George VII. Clearly not.
R.I.P HM ER II, long live the King.

Nah, i doubt it BN. The monarch that seen 14 previous PMs throughout her reign, she's probably seen, heard & been through it all, especially the war, Bozza's antics were probably mild by comparison!

Maybe the new King will seek to address the matter. however, like Teflon Tony, Bozza seems to almost get away with anything. Damn politicians....slipperier than eels.

Are there any of the late Majesty's corgis left BN?!
I found it annoying that he received just a fine for his involvement in 'party gate'....as if that was punishment enough? It's not like he short of a few bob.....a man who now will go on the gravy train of well paid after dinner speeches, more novels, including possibly a second Winston Churchill biography, and no doubt..his own biography, along with plenty of other lucrative appointments. They've all done it....Theresa May earned herself 750K this year alone for 9 speeches....these politicians always ensure themselves a wealthy future. And now we have Liz Truss in the house.....the least desired of all the candidates from my perspective.....not that the others were much better, most if not all of them were awful.
Anyhoo, i fear we're detracting from the person of the moment.

I can't fault the Queen for her devotion to duty. She was pretty much forced into the job but never appeared to falter. An example not many people would follow. She's earned some peace.

Prince Andrew has said he'll look after the Queens Corgis.
Obviously not for any sinister reasons like attracting young women to pet them.

David Longdon, vocalist and flute player with English prog rock band Big Big Train, 55 died after an accidental fall at this home on Nov 20th 2021. Great singer, composer and musician - can unreservedly recommend BBT's English Electric albums, Underfall Yard and others - shades of Yes, Genesis, Tull but also distinctive sounds of their own, incorporating colliery brass band parts. Tragic loss.
In July 2021 Judy Dyble, founder member and vocalist of Fairport Convention, 70. Coincidence here is that her last album Between a Breath and a Breath was co-produced and released with David Longdon ! Lovely album.
