I read this book as a kid and know that I loved it. It is the story of Meg, an outcast, and her brother Charles Wallace going out to search for their father who has disappeared. They were encouraged by 3 mysterious ladies that appear at a haunted house, Mrs WhatsIt, Mrs Who and Mrs Which.
With the movie coming out, I decided to re-read. Turns out that I didn't remember much at all and to be honest, it didn't really hold up to my reading as an adult. The themes was a great message for middle-graders, but I found that the pacing was very uneven. I'm trying to think back on what I would have liked as a kid.....I think that Meg was a character that I could relate to and I'm sure that I was really impressed with the science part of the book. However as an adult, the science wasn't really explained at all.
NOTE: I decided not to put under science since there were not any real world discussion of science theories. For me (personal opinion only), science tag would be non-fiction or fiction where actual real science is crucial to the plot.
