Scott: You gave her wings?!
Hank: And blasters.
Scott: So I take it you didn’t have that tech available for me.
Hank: No, I did.

“It takes two to make a thing go ri-ight!”

I like how they’re aiming directly at Ryan Reynolds with this trailer while using plausible deniability. His Deadpool SUV fight scene and singing that song in The Proposal.

Trike | 11211 comments If they’re leaning heavily on the Quantum Realm, which is the MCU version of the Microverse, and the QR apparently gives Ghost her powers as well as allowing Janet van Dyne, aka the first Wasp, (played by Michelle Pfeiffer) to survive, that might be the key to Avengers 4.

The Microverse is home to the Micronauts, who won’t be part of the MCU, but one of their members, Bug, was part of the Thanos storyline and he later joined the Guardians of the Galaxy. Since Bug was a Marvel character and not a Micronauts one, he can become part of the MCU.

So if they mine the Microverse storylines, that means we might get to see the Gardener, a Celestial like Starlord’s dad Ego (Kurt Russell), who makes his home in the Microverse and just so happens to wield a Soul Gem. One of the main groups living in the Microverse is a time-traveling race who went there to escape a war.

That would be a lot to pack into a movie, but time travelers + a Soul Gem allows the Avengers to fight back against Thanos and undo most of his destruction.

Edit: ooh, they could also use Annihilus! In the comics Annihilus lives in the Negative Zone, but they could change that to the Quantum Realm, and both he and Bug are insectoid creatures. Criss-cross!

Wouldn't Annihilus be part of the FF rights?

Disney/Mavel has those rights back with their acquisition of Fox.

As far as I know, the only rights they don’t have currently are Spider-man (and his secondary characters like Black Cat, Venom and Kraven), She-Hulk, The Hulk and Sub-mariner, and Hulk has been folded into the MCU, with Spidey effectively so.

John (Nevets) Nevets (nevets) | 1903 comments That deal isn’t complete yet. And despite Murdoch’s friendship with the President, I have a hard time seeing it let through before the AT&T, Time Warner deal gets hammered out. And that is only in its first trial now, appeals should keep that going for a while (no matter the outcome of this one). If the DOJ lets through Fox Disney first that just gives more ammunition to AT&TW to use in future trials.

Trike | 11211 comments Nothing is carved in Stone, but this is the most corporate-friendly government in America’s history. I don’t see it getting denied.

Rik | 777 comments It'll be at least a year before the deal is finalized and then at least another year before we start seeing the merge of the X-men and FF into the MCU given they won't film movies until the merge is complete.

I'm mostly interested in seeing how they deal with stuff like Deadpool who is probably better off without the merge. Or the ever delayed New Mutants movie that is now pushed back to late summer of 2019 as they are basically going to refilm all of it in order to embrace the horror elements they hinted at in the original trailers.

Me, even if/when Marvel does get the rights back, I'd be perfectly happy if they kept X-Men and Fantastic Four as separate entities outside of the MCU continuity -- it's already getting awfully crowded in there ...

Trike | 11211 comments Saw it today, and it’s awesome. Laughs by the hiveful as well some really cool gags. I don’t think I could choose which Ant-Man movie I like more, because they’re both pitch perfect.

Phillip Murrell | 367 comments My kids, wife, and I all enjoyed it. I think I liked the first one more, but because I really loved the Ant-Man and Falcon “audition” fight. I’ll never get tired of Michael Pena telling stories.

message 18: by Keith (new)

Keith (keithatc) I enjoyed it so much I didn't even mind the Infinity War tie-in.

And I love seeing the women of Syfy get big budget shots. Speaking of which, welcome back Killjoys. Never enough Hannah John-Kamen!

message 19: by Christos (new)

Christos | 219 comments I love Marvel movies but I personally thought this movie was really boring. It had none of the charm and comedy of the first movie most of the jokes were cringe worthy and I didn't care about the story

So I was kind of so-so on the first movie and wasn't necessarily rushing out to see this one. My friends wanted to go so I tagged along and ended up really enjoying it.

I apparently had the opposite reaction to Christos.

I thought it was a lot better than the first movie (though to be fair it's been years since I watched it). In general I'm pretty tired of origin stories. I'm also kind of tired of Paul Rudd. Or thought I was until this movie.

I still find the digital de-aging thing creepy, although it does seem to be improving each time they do it. I read that Micheal Douglas wants to do a whole prequel that way. No thanks.

Young Micheal Douglas and Michelle Pfeifer both looked far less creepy than young Robert Downey Jr.

After Infinity War and Black Panther, it was nice to have something much more light-hearted.
