After reading a Facebook post about waiting eight years for the second book in a series, I am ever grateful for my favorite authors. They write short, fun, fluffy books (or a good murder mystery) that can stand alone. And the authors release one or two books per year. *lifts a glass of sparkly water* Cheers!

Haha! I agree, that's always nice. Sure some people might complain about books like that becoming formulaic and such. And there is something to be said about that. But if you enjoy the formula, it's nice having a fresh infusion every year or so without having to agonizingly wait. :) Definitely room for both approaches though!

Seanan McGuire/Mira Grant is super prolific - there's always at least one or two books a year in one or more series - and she does everything from portal (think narnia, but not quite) stories to urban fairies to killer mermaids to zombies. There's generally one Toby Daye book a year (I've been holding off on the latest because it finally started coming out in hardback first, and all the rest of mine are paperback), so I always have something to look forward to.

Me, I love Seanan McGuire/ Mira Grant :) I also am behind on her stuff, so I have so much of her stuff left to read, it's great.

Brandon Sanderson is my prolific favorite. He manages two to three a year, which is good as his flagship epic series, the Stormlight Archive only gets an new addition about every three years. Amazingly, he manages to largely avoid the formula problems, though some of his earlier works fell into it somewhat.

Also grateful to my regular favorite authors. Most of mine write about one book a year.
Margaret Maron decided to end her Deborah Knott series after 20. In her FB post that announced the end, she referred to a short story about a group of mystery writers who vowed to knock each other off before their series "jumped the shark"; she claimed she was trying to avoid that fate. She ended the series nicely.
I have tried a lot of new authors the past two years based on recommendations from Jen Yates and FoE. It's always a disappointment to find a book you love and learn it's the only one. (I'm talking about you, The Night Circus and The Goblin Emperor).
