This topic is for the book as a whole.

Cheryl | 1168 comments I finished it. I gave it 3 stars. I liked about half of the stories.

Favorites:
Johnny Mnemonic
The Gernsback Continuum
The Belonging Kind
The Winter Market
Burning Chrome

I'm glad I read it, but for me a little cyberpunk goes a long way. I won't be reading any more for awhile.

Sarah (sarahmott) | 463 comments Man I burned through that one. I love Gibson though I agree he can be a little convoluted. His writing improves a great deal over time though. There’s a huge difference between Johnny Mnemonic and Mona Lisa Overdrive. If you’re liking cyberpunk but also want good writing, I highly recommend Snowcrash by Neal Stephenson, though it can be a little religiously offensive if that bugs you...

I am just reading a couple of stories at a time so I don’t burn out. I have a small Gibson window of tolerance.

I have to do that with any short story collection. I prefer to read a story and then think about it for a day or two. I had a bunch of holds come in at once from my library, so I did read through Burning Chrome fairly quickly so I could start on books from those holds.

Sarah (sarahmott) | 463 comments Same here: I got a Conn Iggulden book that came off hold, and those are in high demand. So I feel guilty borrowing it for too long. His historical fiction is aces.

This was okay! I ended up liking a lot of the stories more than I thought I would, which was a pleasant surprise.
