Vicki Zeljka wrote: "I nominate The Brothers Karamazov Dostoyevsky"

I second the Brothers Karamozov -
I have read Crime and Punishment twice and The Idiot once. Karamozov is my next challenge - Just know that it is a very long and difficult read - May need group support to stick with it!

Vicki Darren wrote: "I second Slaughterhouse-five and nominate The thirty-nine steps."

Wow- no seconds for The thirty-nine steps. I give it a second.

This one has been resting on my Kindle for a year, waiting for me to get around to it. Great old Alfred Hitchcock movie was based on this book.

message 106: by Stella (new)

Stella | 27 comments I second The Hobbit

message 107: by Renee (new)

Renee (elenarenee) I will second 39 steps also

message 108: by Megan (new)

Megan | 475 comments I second The Bell Jar, Flowers for Algernon, 39 Steps and possibly Lolita (I feel like I should read it, and doing it in a group is probably the only way I ever will, but don't know if I can stomach the content)

message 109: by NancyJ (new)

NancyJ (nancyjjj) I haven't seen most of the sci-fi and fantasy books listed, so
I Second:

Flowers for Algernon
A Wrinkle in Time
A Wizard of Earthsea

(I also clarified my second for Slaughterhouse V earlier, as I don't think it was counted. }

message 110: by Rowen (last edited Feb 27, 2018 12:04PM) (new)

Rowen | 47 comments I would like to second:
The Iliad,
A Wizard of Earthsea,
The Three Musketeers, and
A Wrinkle in Time.

I would like to nominate The Mysterious Island.

message 111: by John (new)

John | 618 comments I second all Ursula K. Le Guin offerings suggested in her memory.

I also nominate The Island of Dr. Moreau by H.G. Wells

message 112: by Marcos (new)

Marcos Kopschitz | 1766 comments Very good secondings and nominations, Rowen and John.

A tip for new members I frequently post here: better no to nominate in the last week of the month. If you have a good idea for a book nomination, keep it until the beginning of the following month.

People always nominate more - and get more secondings - in the first two weeks. :-)

message 113: by Karen (new)

Karen (rhyta) | 3 comments I will second Slaughterhouse 5 and Wizard of Earthsea

Stephanie Gwaltney | 94 comments NancyJ wrote: "(I also clarified my second for Slaughterhouse V earlier, as I don't think it was counted. }"

Thanks. It wasn't your fault. I think all I said was the Vonegut book. I was too rushed to spell out the title I guess.
