I just reread the first three books in the Shatter Me series, because while it was originally a trilogy, there is a fourth one coming out next month! I preordered it. While looking around at the author's goodreads page, I saw that she also had written two novellas that weren't around when I read the trilogy the first time, so I have even more to look forward to reading.

I also noticed that she has written two books in a series geared toward middle school readers. I'm interested in reading those! I wonder if she uses a completely different style—if the style of Shatter Me was for Juliette only or if that is just how Mafi writes.

(It's totally annoying that my autocorrect keeps turning "Tahereh" into "There."

Jennifer | 12 comments Hi! First time commenting here. I just want to say that this YA dystopian genre, is totally my jam. I LOVED this series. I just read it last year and on a whim, I ordered the novellas with it (which I never do, because I haven't ever found novellas to be critical, only moderately interesting) and WOW. Those novellas may be small, but they are chronological and in my opinion critical to character development. I recommend them to everyone who reads the series so I'm glad to see you'll be nose deep in them soon! I haven't read her other books, but I think I might because I do enjoy her writing style. I'm really looking forward to this next book!

That's exciting to hear that the novellas are actually useful. So often I skip novellas because they often seem poorly edited and just thrown together. I hope to read these this weekend. :)

Yep. Reread the Shatter Me series yesterday, and the new novellas too. Phew. I had remembered that they were intense, but it’s hard to hold on to exactly how intense they are! Fun books to read though.

Jennifer | 12 comments Spoilers Ahead *** I just re read the Shatter Me series this week. It's been a year and I can't believe how much I had completely forgotten! I remembered the beginning and the end, but everything else felt brand new. I have such a bad memory apparently. It was so much fun getting into this series again. It could easily be called "The Evolution of Juliette" , though that's not nearly as catchy. The author's unique writing style really placed me in her head, watched her learn, grow, change into a person who seems so completely different than the girl we started out with. And I love it. Also it's a testament to Tahereh Mafi's storytelling that I was able to switch teams! I LOVED Adam so much in the first book, but that all changed by middle of the second. Of course Warner is the better choice, duh! An equal, a partner, a fighter, a supporter. I know most people don't like a love triangle, but I don't mind them. And this one was most enjoyable. As much as I'm looking forward to the next installment in the next few weeks, I'm also really nervous. Everything finally got to a good place and I was happy with it. But now the author will have to bring in all kinds of new tension, break people apart, introduce more drama and this will be a THREE YEAR journey for me to get to the end. I just don't know if my heart can take it!!
