That is an awesome job!!!!!!

message 103: by Mariab (new)

Mariab | 3059 comments I could take Coming of Age. I have a pair of titles set aside for it (but unfortunately no guaranties I will be able to finish it...)

message 104: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) @Mariab - pretty cool right! You get to kick ass ...and read good books!!!

message 105: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments Sorry for such a late check in. I've been sick with a very low level of mind functioning. Going from your list of card one books to be locked in, I'll take the 1800s and Character wearing glasses on the cover (I recently had to find 10 covers with glasses so that's no problem). I can also take teacher-professor if you still have the very long book planned Rusalka.

message 106: by Pragya (new)

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 4030 comments Jmom
Hey. Hope you feel better soon. Which books are you going for?

message 107: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Good to hear from you, jmom. Sorry to hear you have been sick. Feel better soon!

message 108: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Jmom! Glad to see you :D Sorry you haven't been well, hope you're beginning to feel better.

I'll put you down for those two categories, and I can switch the teacher/professor with you too, that would be awesome. I just think 500pp of Michael Chabon will take me all week.

So Jmom for:
1800s
Glasses
Teacher/Professor

Let us know how you are feeling as you go. With that book of mine gone, I can step up too.

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Mariab wrote: "I could take Coming of Age. I have a pair of titles set aside for it (but unfortunately no guaranties I will be able to finish it...)"

That's okay. Can I pencil you in, and we can revisit as our week progresses? We all know this is a moveable feast once we get started. But this just gives us some structure.

message 110: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments If Jmom takes that teacher task, I will commit to

Proper name in title - Cinder
Author name starts with F - A Most Peculiar Malaysian Murder

message 111: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Spreadsheet link again, as it's disappearing.

Still haven't got reads from Poongothai, so hopefully she can fill in our last two gaps!

message 112: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Also, heads up, I'm offline for the next 36+ hours or so. I'll try and check in, but depends on family things and flights.

See you when I get back :)

Safe travels!

And Jmom, hope you are feeling better!

message 114: by Casceil (new)

Casceil | 2728 comments Glad you made it Jmom. I hope you are better.

As Rusalka mentioned in her last message before leaving town, there are still two gaps on the planning page, but I think one of them actually should be filled. Laura, do you still want "Snow on the Cover"?

message 115: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) Sure Casceil. I have no problem with that. If no one else wants the task lock me in with it.

message 116: by Casceil (new)

Casceil | 2728 comments Thank you, Laura. I've done that, but it gives you five books, so let us know if you need help once the reading starts.

message 117: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) I'll be taking extra 2 tasks Casceil with shorter books which I can finish in less than a day. I'll leave those for last and ask to be assigned categories for them later. :)

OK!

message 119: by Poongothai (new)

Poongothai (poongsa) | 483 comments I can read 2 books for the challenge. If time permits I will go for one more.
I'll start with a book for Epistolary style

message 120: by Casceil (last edited Feb 08, 2018 09:13PM) (new)

Casceil | 2728 comments Glad to hear it, Poongothai. I was wondering what we were going to do about Epistolary style. Now we have somebody for every square on Card 1.

message 121: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Go team!

message 122: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Great. Now to scroll back and figure out which books I said I'd read because I don't remember. But I'll be ready tomorrow. Guess I better go check toppler date pretty sure it's tomorrow. I think I'm losing my mind.

message 123: by Casceil (new)

Casceil | 2728 comments Travis, you're reading something set during a war and something made into a movie. The topple is tomorrow, and I'm hoping someone somewhere has set up one of those countdown clocks to help me figure out when to start.

message 124: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments I think it starts at 9am for you Casceil. That's if you're pst. If it's over one into mountain time is it then 10 am

message 125: by Casceil (new)

Casceil | 2728 comments Thanks, Travis. I am in mountain time, so it's 10.

message 126: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments I don't know which book I'll start with, but I have a couple of options for each of my three squares. I'll just see what mood I'm in.

For card 2, I'd like to read for Person with a hat on the cover. For any other books I'll wait and see what's needed.

Now I'm off to finish the book (series, really) that I'm in the middle of, and hopefully to go to sleep.

message 127: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Woo only few hours to go.

Thanks Jmom for choosing the first book on card 2. We now have a row and a column we can prioritise, and then the next person to choose a book can determine which one we start with.

Spreadsheet link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
so you can remember which tasks you have offered to do.

Eeek! Exciting!

message 128: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments What book I should everyone planning on starting with? I'm going with The Coffin Path which I can also use for the Zodiac challenge.

message 129: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Start with Card 1, and the rest is up to you :D We should easily complete Card 1 so go where the mood takes you.

I'm off to bed. Read well, and good luck! I'll be back for the second shift looking forward to all the shenanigans.

message 130: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments I just got A Tiger's Tale through kindle lendable. That can count for either trees on card 2 or tiger on cover for card 3.

message 131: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments It's toppler time! Good luck team! I hope you all enjoy your reads.

I'm starting with The Coffin Path for the vampires, werewolves or ghosts task.

message 132: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) I've been going to my toppler books and thought to start with the Tower Lord but it is 600 pages and I doubt I will be able to finish it by the time the toppler ends together with the rest.
So I'm gonna ask for a change. I'll replace it with The Claw of the Conciliator which is only 300 pages. Same category - second in a series. I'd like to start to read this one now.
Same category only title change. Hope that's ok.

That's absolutely fine, Laura.

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 4030 comments Yay. it's toppler time. Starting Genuine Fraud.

message 135: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Morning all! Hope you've all had a wonderful Saturday reading!

I'm going to start with Alice for Horror.

Also, I set up a reporting thread before I went to bed last night for us. You can find it here when you need to tell us you have finished your reads https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 136: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Aren't we all a quiet bunch of readers! That's what I like in a team, heads down, bums up.

I just flopped on the couch from hanging washing on the line and my heel smashed my reading glasses. I think I have it sorted, but they will never be pretty again... Did panic me for a second. "Not during the toppler!!"

message 137: by Pragya (new)

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 4030 comments Uh oh. Sorry to hear that, Rusalka.

I am bunking my conference for a bit and reading. Shh. Don't tell anyone.

message 138: by Pragya (new)

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 4030 comments Did someone tell on me? They just called and want me there for a discussion. There goes my reading plan.

message 139: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Hmm. Something's going on around here. Which of the other teams could be up to sabotage. First Rusalkas glasses now Pragya has a "discussion" which once she gets down there let's just hope there really is one and this isn't just a trick.

LOL! She'll go downstairs and find that Peggy is at the same Psych conference as her and has signed her up to every panel and workshop. Luckily Beth hasn't gone too otherwise we'd be stuffed!

I do have my good glasses that I wear out in public, so I have backups. I just use these ones at home as they are scratched and now bent (although I got the lens back in which was touch and go) and so I don't leave my glasses at work/at home when I need them at the other place.

message 141: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments I'm only halfway through my first book as I keep waking up from mysterious naps. No wonder I'm now wide awake at 4 am. Maybe some dinner? breakfast? I don't even know what meal time I'm feeling like.

message 142: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Lol. I've been debating making a tshirt that says "Naps Happen". Think you need one too Jmom!

message 143: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Morning all! I read 30% of my first book yesterday evening, which is more than I expected to. I have a reasonable amount of time to read today so I will see how far through I get. I may get it finished today but I won't make any promises.

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Finished Alice for horror.

Starting A Most Peculiar Malaysian Murder for author who starts with "F"

message 147: by Mariab (new)

Mariab | 3059 comments Ok. I have finished my first book. Vampire Academy, So, I can start the 2nd one, for Coming of Age. It looks good in regard of my chances finish it during the toppler!!!
(Vampire Academy was a disappoint, it is a so popular and highly appraised serie. I thought it would be much better. It has plot holes so big, I dont't know how the whole text don't slips through...

message 148: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) Finished my first book The Claw of the Conciliator for second in series.

and starting my second book now Dragons of Spring Dawning which may go for Free Space or Female Author on Card 1 and Trees on Cover and Witches/Wizards on Card 2

message 149: by Pragya (new)

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 4030 comments Haha, Travis and Rusalka. There really was a discussion, so that was good. ;)

I am 100 pages into Genuine Fraud. Glad to see some of us are finishing our first reads.

I was disappointed by Vampire academy too. never continued with the series.
