Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Alcatraz I assume could also be a proper name as that is his name. His family is all named after famous prisons

And this works too.... I may have a plan. I may sleep on it and see if I find hole in it. But we may be able to kill a few things on card 2. As long as Pragya and Poongothai are good with their reads. I am sure they are, but just haven't heard from them for a little bit (besides the conference thwarting our plans).

Get well soon, Laura. I have never had adult chicken pox but I know people who have and they all said it was a complete misery. Take good care of yourself and get plenty of rest.

message 207: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments West Cork can be a standalone or set in 1900's on card 2

message 208: by Rusalka, Moderator (last edited Feb 13, 2018 04:30AM) (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Okay, so my thought so it can be to be dissected while I sleep :P It makes sense to me

We get someone to read the family drama book (I can if with Travis on my proper name book, but finding a book with it listed as a genre is hard, will have to ask for ruling).

Then we go down the middle column. So Travis' West Cork can do mystery, we have a free book (could move Casceil's food book to that square), an england book (easy), and author begins with "T". Seems pretty simple and flexible?

message 209: by Beth (new)

Beth (eparks4232) | 2556 comments I am going to start House of Names and hope it works for family drama. If not, it should work for something on card two.

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments I finished two books:

Zero at the Bone - It works for Title starts with Z, and Set in the US
The Gentleman's Captain - Is there a square for mind numbingly boring? It works for Standalone, Historical fiction, and Set in England.

I'm starting a book for Author starts with T.

message 213: by Beth (last edited Feb 13, 2018 11:52AM) (new)

Beth (eparks4232) | 2556 comments I started House of Names. If this isn't a family drama then nothing is. Freud named a complex after the drama in this family. If we need a ruling, this should help.

message 214: by Casceil (new)

Casceil | 2728 comments I have updated the planning card for Card 2, putting in Beth for Family Drama and myself for mystery. I started reading a mystery last night--Cold Poison. I have identified a book I could reader for author's name begins with "T".

message 215: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I have finished my second book, The Dumb House. It was another 3 star read for me.

Lisa, Poonagthai has reported for Male author, so you are off the hook for that square if you wish.

message 219: by Beth (new)

Beth (eparks4232) | 2556 comments I will be done with House of Names by sometime during tomorrow's commute. I can probably get one more audio done by the end of the week. I have The Fifth Witness in my library which would work for set in US, or mystery/thriller or the free space on card 2

Or I could do Option B which could work for non-fiction, free space, or new release. Do you have a sense of which way I should go?

message 220: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) Thank you Lisa and Mariab. 😘

And thank you Rusalka. 😘

I am lucky and have a relatively milder dose. Shingles seem horrible and I hope to never get them. I'm real sorry for your mum. Hope she won't get them again. And honestly, I think a pulled back may be much worse. (*ouch*)

message 221: by Laura (last edited Feb 13, 2018 07:53PM) (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) I've been going through the Cards and got an idea.
Don't know if it would work but just in case:

If we move Jmom's Tender with a Twist to Hat on the Cover on Card 2 and Beth could take the Non Fiction one we only need a Set in the US and Any book which are easy to do. And 1 row is full.

Romance would be left on card 1 but we can easily do that.

We already have Author's name begins with T so we would only need a Set in England to fill that column too.

In other words we would need to read for these categories:

Romance - on Card 1
Non-Fiction - Beth
Set in US
Any Book
Set in England

Set in US - can be fixed by moving Jmom's book from Begins with Z but if we want to finish that column also we will also have to read:

Family Relationship in title
Set in 1900

Hope it helps.

message 222: by Casceil (new)

Casceil | 2728 comments For set in US, you can use my book, Cold Poison. It is set in Los Angeles. Begins with Z is a harder one to fill, so I would leave Jmom's book there.

message 223: by Beth (new)

Beth (eparks4232) | 2556 comments I will start my nonfiction tomorrow then

message 224: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) What do you think Rusalka? Would this work?

I'll be done with my Snow on Cover in another hour or so and would like to choose something else that is shorter and lighter. Snowbrother is horrible!!! Rape and flesh eating and other stuff like that. Chief warrior women who are ruthless, filthy, stinking and utterly disgusting at times. Yuck!!!

message 225: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) Casceil wrote: "For set in US, you can use my book, Cold Poison. It is set in Los Angeles. Begins with Z is a harder one to fill, so I would leave Jmom's book there."

In that case we only need 1 Free book to fill up that row. Poongothai has just finished 1 that fits for Person with Hat and we don't even need to move Jmom's book from Romance.

message 226: by Pragya (new)

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 4030 comments Hope you feel better soon, Laura.

I am 20 pages from finishing my first read. I have two flights today so hoping to put a dent in the second one too.

Okay. I was going to read my next book, English Animals, for the animal on cover task but it will fit several tasks on Card 2. Or I could read Letters from Skye for the epistolary task on Card 1 instead? Is anyone reading or going to be reading a book for that task?

message 229: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments I'm starting A Fashionable Indulgence which will work for Historical fiction and Set in England.

message 230: by Travis (new)

In that case, I will stick with English Animals and we can just use it for Card 2. Or even Card 3 if we get that far.

message 232: by Rusalka, Moderator (last edited Feb 14, 2018 04:58PM) (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Sorry. Please see the timezone disclaimers I gave at the beginning. I just got home.

Left on card one, and who is scheduled. Could you please check in how you are looking

First book in a series - Laura (hopefully finish tomorrow)
Epistolary style book - Poongothai (reading)
Young adult - Pragya (on a plane, should finish one and dent the second)
One word title - Beth
Books made into movies - Travis
Female author - Pragya (reading)
Proper name in title - was Rusalka, but now Travis?
Author's name begins with "F" - Rusalka

message 233: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) I finished my book for Snow on Cover and will probably finish the first in series today also.

I'll start from Animal perspective next but I would need something else also. I normally read 2 at one time.

Which category still needs reading?

message 234: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments I am happy with whatever people want to do for card two.

I have said we need to prioritise rows and columns but reads aren't quite matching up with that.

At the moment we have Beth finishing up the top row, with a family drama (thanks Beth). We would then have 3 books in the middle column, so just need free book and England. Sounds like Jmom is currently heading to England.

Then we could move to the middle column. Someone read a US book, Beth's non-fiction read, and either have another hat read or move one of the books on card one to card two and replace that read.

Then go to the far left column, as there would only be two reads left on that one with Jmom's Z read.

But. Up to you guys.

message 235: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments I've marked my thinking on the spreadsheet in numbers. I understand describing directions is a bit hard. 1-4 in the order I'm suggesting above.

Okay, in that case I will take the set in the US task. I will read The Couple Next Door instead of English Animals.

message 238: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) Would either The Secret Mountain or By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept go for Mountain Setting?

And I could also read Eight Cousins- which would go for both classic and family relationship in title.

No worries at all. Might as well go for as many points as possible.

message 241: by Laura (last edited Feb 14, 2018 04:10AM) (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) Or I could read another male author book so we could move Poongathai's book to Hat.

Or if no one has claimed Set in 1900 till now, I'd like to take that.

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments I have to go and do some work, but the next one I see needs to be filled is Family relationship in the title.
Laura, I saw you had an option for that too, so let us know what you go with.

Then someone can choose the next row/column. Casceil is on it. So we need then MC has special powers.

I will not be on here for the next 8 hours or so.

message 250: by Laura (last edited Feb 14, 2018 07:57PM) (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) Then I'll start Family Relationship tonight Rusalka.

By that time both my first in series and Animal perspective will be done.

I'll also take 1900 with The Winter Ghosts. Both that and Eight Cousins are short reads and I won't have any problem finishing them.
