New Noms - Round 9:

171. 'The Nurse With Wound List'. On the first two Nurse albums appeared this list of artists, said to have been influences on the group (as it was in the beginning). Mr Stapleton later claimed some didn't even exist, but research seems to suggest all in fact, did. http://nwwlist.org is where to go; click on 'artists' then on 'named' which contains all those on the list. The albums included are merely suggested. You don't have to stick with them; anything by that artist is ok. Nothing from the 'Related' or 'More' sections please. There should be plenty of bands known to all but the most sheltered of souls! You will get kudos points for the weirder side of things though.

blistering track from the latest 'hot milk' re-issue, had an issue deciding between album or 12" versions, but i love the way the horns kick in on this (album version) after 20 seconds or so, like barbed wire wrapped in velvet - enormous track!

Duke - if the whole album is on YouTube, you could always say "Starts at 20.07" (for example).

Some lovely bliss-pop Bjork would have been proud of.

Hopefully this is ok, there's only a link to the full album so this track starts at 26'29" and is 2'50" long. YouTube link should jump straight to the beginning but it won't stop at the end!

Appreciation aplenty to all those who stuck it out...and I have to say, that whilst I did struggle with rounds 8 & 9...i'm pleased to say that this final round was good one....it's always nice to end on a high....yah mannnn! :)

Of course..it could only be Larkin Poe with Preachin' Blues; a great song & an excellent choice by KJS...here is your gold medal sir!

Taking the silver then, with Give Love A Try by I Benjahman, another good track, scoring 2 points fewer, nominated by Tech. I must confess that whilst reggae isn't something I follow...I don't dislike it either.. however, occasionally Tech puts one up that merits a vote! :)

Finally finally....picking up the bronze..with another fine choice, I band I'm familiar with....Amputation by The Jesus And Mary Chain, again scoring 2 points fewer...goes to...again...Johnny!

Well done to ALL the winners over the last ten rounds...some of you felt this year wasn't all up to much as far as 2017's offerings were concerned. Maybe 2018 will prove to be more bountiful one..we shall see.

A very strong playlist..other songs on here were good contenders and would've got points me, especially Low Chimes & Holly Throsby & one or two others. Hard luck to Val...just too strong a list..so your nom just didn't quite cut it...but here's your wooden spoon...complete with pink bow tied on it! :-)

As for my nom, I'm pleased some of you liked it..a bit of gamble that one. Whilst TBR comes from the same vein as King Gizzard's...the blood is a different colour! Very much a 60's revival hippy psyche band...I look forward to their forthcoming sophomore album this year.

For me...Jim White warrants more attention from me! :)

Mine...was one of own choices Taken By Ascent by Six Organs Of Admittance...is an absolute corker. Sadly, whilst the album it's from isn't too bad...doesn't quite live up to this masterpiece.

The Son Volt track was another & the Larkin Poe above...all fab tracks.
