50 word summary: Torak and his father were on a journey together. Dark forest and it could get really dangerous at night. Torak and his dad called it the death journey. But later torak is in the forest by himself at the age of 12. With torak running through the forest very scared.
Character: Im focusing on torak in the book wolf brother. If you ever seen torak you’d notice his dark olive skin. Also dark black hair like his fa. He’s considered tall and fairly good looking. He has a scratch across his cheek crossing over his tattoo. He’s playful but when he needs to be serious. He puts a lot of people in danger because he doesn't listen all the time and does not really take anybody advice. He also is good at hunting and tracking animals. He is also a 12 year old boy.
Conflict: A problem develops when torak is in the forest with his dad and gets attack by a creature which later he finds out is a demon bear. This is an external man vs. nature conflict. The conflict all starts for torak when him and his father go on a journey together in the forest together. Because of that they ended up setting up a tent and slept in the forest. Him and his father later got attack by a creature. “In a heartbeat, the creature had smashed their shelter to splinters.” pg 2 The problem continues when him and his father both got hurt. The creature was drawn by the blood and it kept bringing them back. As a consequence his father died and he has always wanted to get revenge for his father. This conflicted is resolved when torak leaves his father and gets out of the forest. Because of these problems, I learned that sometimes you have to do hard things that you don’t always want to do. Michelle paver wants teens readers to understand that not everything is perfect in life and your going to have to make hard decisions in life.
Review: I think the book is ok it has its ups and downs in the book. But i like how in the book toraks dad is willing to die for torak and i think that it is showing a lot of loyalty to his son. “Torak- leave. Now. Before it comes back”. Pg 3 I also loved how much they describe in detail about the forest.”He crouched in the fragile shell of light and peered into the looming blackness of the forest.” pg 1
