I'm especially intrigued because the feature story takes place in the NJ Pine Barrens and has to do with the Jersey Devil, so home territory stuff for me.
I'll also suggest

"For years, the residents of Deer Valley have murmured about these unsolved crimes…and that a killer may still be lurking around their quiet town. Now, fear is reborn—"

" New York Times bestselling author Mira Grant, author of the renowned Newsflesh series, takes us to a new world of ancient mysteries and mythological dangers come to life. Really anything by Michael McDowell is amazing. I have already read this one and really enjoyed it.

I don't know about Into the Drowning Deep, but Gilded Needles is Definitely NOT YA.

Thanks Matthew. I tend to tune out on YA pretty quickly. Looking to read something I know very little about. Both of these sound interesting.

I don't know about Drowning Deep, but McDowell is definitely not YA. I haven't read Gilded Needles yet, but I loved his The Elementals. It's an exquisite slow burn Southern Gothic.

I feel the same way about YA titles... and I am pretty sure that Into the Drowning Deep is NOT a YA title. It was not in the YA section of the bookstore when I bought it. :)

That is on my TBR list... I almost suggested it for the group listen.

I see the kindle is 10 bucks though which seems like a lot? it's supposed to be very good, though.

+1, I loathed that book lol.
A lot of ppl liked it tho, which honestly, I don't understand.

I will third Songs of a Dead Dreamer I've been meaning to read that forever!

I'm nominating Richard Laymon's 'One Rainy Night' as well as I'd like to second a previously nominated 'Dark Mountain'- also by Laymon.
I've just started 'Dream Woods' by Patrick Lacey which would be a kickass group read for us.

I'd second that.
