message 952: by Emma (new)

Emma (rpblcofletters) Oh I live in new york

message 953: by [deleted user] (new)

OK....NO WONDER. THE UK IS VERY DIFFERENT TO AMERICA...

message 954: by Emma (new)

Emma (rpblcofletters) Ugh America I wish I lived in europe

message 955: by [deleted user] (new)

WHY? I WISH I LIVED IN AMERICA...

message 956: by Emma (new)

Emma (rpblcofletters) Because everyone's annoying here and nobody appreciates their background and I want to move to Italy where everyone appreciates their family history! I mean America is a relatively young county we only were discovered in the 1400s by Europeans and the USA came about in the 1770s so I mean ... Also European countries are just ... Nicer.

sucre'd fiend (sucredfiend) | 113 comments Ah, well, America does have its perks.

I've actually seen a lot of people embracing their backgrounds. It might just be because of where I'm from, but I know a fair amount of people that are either fluent in the native tongue of their families, or have a super close connection with family members that live outside of the US or both.

Jessica~We Are All Heathens~ (puppyluvr) | 1336 comments I think that Europe is a LOT more interesting than America. So much more exciting. It's just boring here, at least for me. No flare to culture or anything. Well, I mean, there's a little bit there, but not as much in America as it would be in South America or Asia or Europe or something.

message 959: by Emma (new)

Emma (rpblcofletters) Everyone where I live is bratty with self made rich parents who don't give a crap about history / their own, or in general. Nobody appreciates the arts or anything. But Europe has it all!!

message 960: by Emma (new)

Emma (rpblcofletters) I mean New York is a nice city but...

message 961: by [deleted user] (new)

you guys have it all wrong...

message 964: by sucre'd fiend (new)

sucre'd fiend (sucredfiend) | 113 comments I think it's dependent on where you live and who you know.
I've attended school with rich kids for the better part of eight years, and a lot of them were pretty nice.

message 965: by [deleted user] (new)

:P

Well, I live in London and I go to a private school...

message 967: by Emma (new)

Emma (rpblcofletters) Most people I know in my towns that are rich aren't nice. Not that I correlate rich with not nice, I just don't like these people.

But what do you think is so great about America? just curious

message 968: by sucre'd fiend (new)

sucre'd fiend (sucredfiend) | 113 comments I was referring to all the comments about the US ^-^
but, yeah, it really just matters where you live, who you know, and what kind of people you interact with. The school I attended was private, as well.

For one, free speech.
Two, the possibilities.
My parents found refuge from the Liberian civil wars here, so without the US, I probably wouldn't be alive.

Jessica~We Are All Heathens~ (puppyluvr) | 1336 comments It's not America that I don't like, it's the people in it. Mainly the kids. They don't appreciate what they have and take everything for granted. They're just so dumb, too.

message 971: by Emma (new)

Emma (rpblcofletters) Well me too ... And yes the American Dream. But for people who are born here ...

And don't other countries have free speech too? like Italy has freedom of the press.

message 972: by sucre'd fiend (new)

sucre'd fiend (sucredfiend) | 113 comments I think that has a lot to do with location.
There are plenty of intelligent kids in our generation, but there's a lot of repression of the youth. That's something people could do better on.

message 973: by Emma (new)

Emma (rpblcofletters) Well excuuuuuuuuuse me the American public education program might not be so great (common core is the worst thing ever) but I'm more knowledgable then a lot of my teachers (in certain topics)

message 974: by Emma (new)

Emma (rpblcofletters) And yes a lot of people here are dumb

Like how I say Michelangelo Buonarotti and nobody understands unless I pronounce the name like the ninja turtle

message 975: by sucre'd fiend (new)

sucre'd fiend (sucredfiend) | 113 comments emma; yes, but I believe it's limited?
The American public education system does need work. A lot of it.
I think we should commend our teachers. A lot of school districts are cutting back on funds for core education, and they still decide that they want to share whatever knowledge they have with students. Sure, there are plenty of bad teachers, but there are just as many good ones.

No country is really better than the other. Other than Switzerland
because Switzerland.

message 976: by Emma (new)

Emma (rpblcofletters) Haha yes and Finland is pretty good too I hear. Plus they have a national song written by Sibelius. And we have like ... John Philip Sousa.

Literally my teachers have told me that I know more than them. A college professor too.
But yes all my teachers are wonderful :) and ugh public schools and funding ugh

message 977: by sucre'd fiend (new)

sucre'd fiend (sucredfiend) | 113 comments emma; yeah ^-^
but yeah, it's all about location and people within the vicinity.

While I don't hate America, I'm not going to always avidly root for it. I don't hate Europe, Asia, or Africa ( but I hate some of their politicians like tf ). I just think that every place has its own pros and cons.

message 978: by Emma (new)

Emma (rpblcofletters) I very much agree :)

message 979: by sucre'd fiend (new)

sucre'd fiend (sucredfiend) | 113 comments ^-^
This has been a lovely discussion, haha

message 980: by Emma (new)

Emma (rpblcofletters) Haha yes
Okay on the topic then, I do have to say I very much appreciate America because I went to China last summer and ... They showed us the "prestigious apartments" in Beijing which are no bigger than my living room, dirty as hell, and cost more than a million USD each!

•CookieMonster• | 1277 comments I live in America and go to a public school. But honestly it is a bit boring depending on where you live in America. I'd rather live somewhere in Europe or Asia to be honest.

But saying that I mean that you can still get different cultures in America but like it would be fun to travel to continents. :)

message 982: by sucre'd fiend (new)

sucre'd fiend (sucredfiend) | 113 comments cookie; hey, to each their own ^-^
Traveling is fun~

emma; ugh
I know someone from there and he didn't like any of it
but he also doesn't really care about the US
he wanted to live in Japan >.>

message 983: by Emma (new)

Emma (rpblcofletters) My violin teacher is from Japan ... I can't imagine living in China

message 984: by sucre'd fiend (new)

sucre'd fiend (sucredfiend) | 113 comments Neither can I.

message 985: by Emma (new)

Emma (rpblcofletters) One day I'll live in Italy though :D

Emma (rpblcofletters) Not much; I'm bored because I have to rehearse this duet with my friend for a concert tomorrow but I don't even have my violin so I'm sitting around moping and listening to Dimitri Hvorostovsky sing dramatic arias from Tosca ...
