Anita Pomerantz | 9283 comments It's a short month, AND I'm going on a two week vacation (the longest I've ever been on, lol), so I'm posting this a day early. Please note the time frame for voting is also shortened, so get your votes in!

Please vote for the tag you would most like to read for March at the following link:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2S93M9R

You may click on the answer choices in the survey to see a listing of books that fit each tag.

Remember, you may cast up to a total of 10 participation points for your choice. Everyone gets one vote for free so please vote even if you don't have any participation points!

Some of you have earned the one time right to use 20 participation points as an award for completing one of our challenges. If you have that right, feel free to exercise it. You must have the 20 points saved in order to expend them.

You can see how many participation points you currently have in the spreadsheet below.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

Happy voting! Please cast your votes by 5 pm EST on 2/20.

Note: If no one choice receives more than 50% of the vote, people who chose the least popular choice will be asked to recast their votes for one of the remaining two options.

I would be good with two of the choices so I am sure the third is going to win. LOL I will deal with it, if it does.

Kelly | 1002 comments Voted! Have a great vacation Anita!

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

That was easy! One of the tags fits one of my other challenges this year!

message 5: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tstan) | 1261 comments Voted, but I’d be fine with any of these. I think Classics should be better defined by GR, though.

message 6: by Joni (new)

Joni | 626 comments I have books for all three but I went big with the votes and I went easy!!!!!!!

message 8: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12930 comments Some of us can still use our prosperity votes right? Haven’t even looked at the list for each of the three. But if I can still use them, I have to figure out which month is the right one to do it!

message 9: by Barbara M (new)

Barbara M (barbara-m) | 2597 comments None really rock my boat, though I didn't look at the lists of book. I generally have books for any category though since I have a huge TBR! I voted, just my 2 cents worth (1 vote)

Joi (missjoious) | 3970 comments These are all super easy!

message 12: by JoLene (new)

JoLene (trvl2mtns) | 1532 comments I definitely like 2 better, but all are do-able.

Tracy said "I think Classics should be better defined by GR, though. " ......all of the shelves on GoodReads are crowd-sourced. This means that no one in GoodReads (as a company) is defining what books belong to a specific shelf, the users are. So, for some, a classic may mean anything published before they were born, but that would vary based on age. This is one area where I wish they would use some of the meta-data from the Amazon site where I think they do have a classification system and a smaller set of people applying the definitions.

message 13: by Jason (new)

Jason Oliver | 3047 comments Definition of a classic.
a work of art of recognized and established value

or

of or relating to Greek and Roman antiquity, especially with reference to literature and art.

message 14: by LibraryCin (new)

LibraryCin | 11696 comments I definitely have a favourite! And a second place, but it's a ways back. And a third, but is even farther back (but I'm afraid it might be a popular one!).

message 15: by annapi (new)

annapi | 5505 comments Voted. I could go with any of them.

Yes, those who have prosperity votes are able to use them at any time.

Voted and used 8 participation points. After considering all 3 tags, I was surprised by my final choice.

Have a relaxing vacation, Anita. 🌞

message 27: by Sushicat (new)

Sushicat | 843 comments Voted. I would be fine with each of those, but was rather astonished at the number of books I have on the shelf for my choice.

message 28: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 684 comments Voted! I only had two books for one of these options. Probably not surprising though...

message 29: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12930 comments Anita, by Sunday I’ll be on the app from Mexico. But I use it every day and find it easy. I use my laptop or computer to write the reviews and look at lists. I think you will find it easy.

message 30: by Jason (new)

Jason Oliver | 3047 comments Can you guess which one I picked? Voted. Two I'll be good with and the third will be a new experience.

message 31: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12930 comments Of course I know what you picked! Thought for sure I would pick the same and then surprised myself by going with the only other real choice.

message 32: by Elise (new)

Elise (ellinou) I recently bought two books that would fit in two of the choices, so I'm hoping for one of those!

Tessa (FutureAuthor23) | 229 comments I don't understand the Illustrated category. So basically we would be reading a children's book?

message 34: by Cynda (new)

Cynda Tessa (FutureAuthor23) wrote: "I don't understand the Illustrated category. So basically we would be reading a children's book?"

Hi Tessa. I hope the illustrated tag includes the illustrated version of fill-in-the-blank. I have an illustrated version of the Da Vinci Code. I bought it when it came out, before the internet was big and before mobile devices. That's what I am hoping the illustrated tag will consists of, with maybe some children's books. Sometimes the illustrations are art.

Tessa (FutureAuthor23) | 229 comments Cynda wrote: "I hope the illustrated tag includes the illustrated version of fill-in-the-blank. I have an illustrated version of the Da Vinci Code. ..."

Ah, I see. I didn't think of that. I was only thinking graphic novels and children's books.

message 36: by Jason (new)

Jason Oliver | 3047 comments Definition of illustrated. containing pictures or other graphical material.

George W Bush has a book containing his paintings of disabled veterans. There are also descriptions of them and their service. It's called Portraits of Courage.

There is are newer picture book of Obama and his administration. I assume these would apply. Called. Obama: An Intimate Portrait

Maybe also books. normally biographies or memoirs with the pictures in the middle.

Then yes children books, graphic novels, maybe comic books. Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Shel Silverstein Sticking with the political theme I've created, Hillary Clinton has a new children's book and I believe all of Stephen Colbert books have pictures and illustrations.

Great Illustrated Classics would be a good series. Abridged and abbreviated classics, about a 4th to 6th grade reading level with illustrations on every other page.

I think I'm all out of ideas but if anyone else has any....

message 37: by KateNZ (new)

KateNZ | 4100 comments I forgot to check the lists before voting (doh!) so don't know what Goodreads suggests, but science-type books commonly have illustrations - like the illustrated version of Longitude: The True Story of a Lone Genius Who Solved the Greatest Scientific Problem of His Time which is fabulous.

Also I was given 100 Documents That Changed the World: From the Magna Carta to Wikileaks recently - has good plates.

Dang. Now I'm rethinking my vote, lol!

Your saying this Jason reminds me of a collection of photograghs Eudora Welty took as a WPA worker. Eudora Welty: Photographs. I lived in Mississippi in early to mid-80s when it was still largely rural. These photos of rural and semi-rural Mississippi fascinated me for years.

message 39: by Becky (new)

Becky Voted! But like others, I'm okay with any of the tags.

message 40: by Anita (new)

Anita Pomerantz | 9283 comments If you voted for "illustrated" please recast your votes. It is clearly going to be one of the other two options, but neither had 50% of the total votes cast.

message 41: by LibraryCin (new)

LibraryCin | 11696 comments So, either the one I want most or the one I want least to win will win!

message 42: by JoLene (new)

JoLene (trvl2mtns) | 1532 comments Once again, no love for the graphic novel :-(

message 43: by LibraryCin (new)

LibraryCin | 11696 comments JoLene wrote: "Once again, no love for the graphic novel :-("

If "illustrated" had won (it would have been my 2nd choice), I would have been reading a graphic novel... or a few!

message 44: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12930 comments And I’m thrilled. Would be happy with either of the others.

message 45: by Joni (new)

Joni | 626 comments Voted....again😁
